I have 2 businesses that we would like to keep in separate Enterprise desktop accounts.  We would prefer not to use the Class option.  How do I reconcile the bank statement and credit card if the two companies share these?

Good to see your post here, katherineh0912.

I'm here to guide you on how to reconcile two companies that share bank statements and credit cards in QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise.

In your case, you'll want to create a backup of the main company and restore it to the second company to import the data.

To create a backup, here's how:
'

  1. In QuickBooks, go to the File menu and select Switch to Single-user Mode.
  2. Go to the File menu again and hover over Back up Company. Then select Create Local Backup.
  3. In the window, select Local Backup and then Next.
  4. In the Local Backup Only section, select Browse and select where you want to save your backup company file.
  5. Set the number of backups you want to keep. This is optional.
  6. This runs a test to make sure your backup file is in good shape before you save it.
  7. When you're ready, select OK.
  8. Select Save it now and Next.

To restore a backup, here's how:

  1. Open QuickBooks.
  2. Select the File menu, then Open or Restore Company...
  3. Restore the file based on its type: Windows backup file (.qbb).
  4.

Learn more about the process of restoring your file through this article: Restore your file.

Once done, you can go on and start reconciling your account. Feel free to visit this guide when reconciling your account: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Desktop.
