SCAN AND ATTACH A DOC TO A BILL

FOR OVER 20 YEARS I HAVE ATTACHED DOCS TO A BILL FROM THE BILL WINDOW, CLICK ATTACH, AND THEN SELECT SCAN, I HAVE 2022 ENTERPRISE , JUST RECENTLY UPGRADED FROM 2021, IT APPEARS IT HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED AND REPLACE WITH A MOBILE APP. THIS IS NOT WHAT I PAID FOR. I PAID FOR AN UPGRADE AND GOT A DOWN GRADE

SCAN AND ATTACH A DOC TO A BILL

Hi there, DavidHS.

Can you tell us what options you see when trying to attach a file to the bill? I tried it in my QuickBooks 2022 and I can still see the option to attach a document from my computer.

Please reply below and share a screenshot of your QuickBooks. We look forward to it. Thanks.

Thanks for providing a screenshot, DavidHS.

I understand how important it is for your company to be able to scan and attach a document to any transaction in QuickBooks Desktop. The Scan Manage feature was discontinued in QuickBooks Desktop 2022 and replaced by Attach Document.

You can now scan your document and save it on your computer. After that, attach the file by clicking the Computer icon. You can also download the QuickBooks Desktop mobile app and upload it from your mobile device. Please use the following links to download the app for your device:

For Android version, you can follow the steps below on how to capture and upload the documents:

  1. Open the QuickBooks Desktop Android app, then tap Document under Snap and Upload.
  2. Tap the company to upload bills to, then tap Continue.
  3. Tap Snap Document.
  4. Tap the Camera icon to take a picture of the bill, or tap the Photos icon to upload your bill. If you need to, you can crop and rotate the photo.
  5. Tap Use this photo.
  6. Add a Name and Memo, then tap Upload photo then tap OK.
  7. Sign in to your Intuit Account and select the company to upload bills too. You’ll only need to do this once.
  8. Sign in to your QuickBooks Desktop company file to review, edit, and match bills to transactions.

Here's how for iOS version:

  1. From the QuickBooks Desktop app, sign in to your Intuit Account and select the company to upload documents to.
  2. On the home screen, tap the option to Snap and Upload Document.
  3. Tap Snap Document.
  4. Tap the Camera icon to take a picture of the bill or tap the Photos icon to upload your bill. If you need to, you can crop and rotate the photo.
  5. Tap Use this photo.
  6. Add a Name and Memo, then tap Upload photo then tap OK.
  7. Sign in to your QuickBooks Desktop company file to review, edit, and match bills to transactions.

Thanks for your reply, I am sure it is the correct answer but this is not what I am COMPLAINING about. the mobile app is time wasting, I know how to scan and attach from outside of QB I pay for Enterprise and now to use the app is $120 a year.

What permissions need to be set to use the mobile scan?

It seems permissions need to be granted to perform mobile scan.  What permission is needed?

SCAN AND ATTACH A DOC TO A BILL

Thanks for getting involved with this thread, bbailey225.

To attach documents to bills in the QuickBooks mobile app, a user will need access to Vendors & Payables.

You'll need to confirm your user's role is customized to grant them full access for attaching documents.

Here's how:

  1. In the top menu bar, go to Company, then Users.
  2. Choose Set Up Users and Roles.
  3. Enter your admin password.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Access the Role List tab.
  6. Pick a role, then hit Edit to review its permissions.
  7. In your Area and Activities section, choose an area of the accounts. You can pick Full, Partial, or None for their access level.
  8. Finish setting your permissions.
  9. Select OK.

I've also included a detailed resource about working with user roles which may come in handy moving forward: Create & manage users/roles

I'll be here to help if there's any additional questions. Have a wonderful Monday!
