starting an estimate or an invoice

What this online version does which my desktop has never done was if I start an estimate and fail to press the "save" button, if I step away and need to type in my password again to get back online, I've lost all work I've started. I would leave this platform in a second if I could use my old version again. It was paid for, it did everything I needed it to and didn't need to pay an extra dime for issues like these.

It's so annoying, isn't it?  A lot of times, someone will be in the middle of typing, and it will just kick them out, for "inactivity".  Like we have NO right to take our time, proof read and make sure it's correct before saving.  ((Insert eyeroll here))

Hi there, JM256.

Thanks for bringing your question forward to the Community. I want to make sure you don't lose any of your work in QuickBooks Online.

I recommend double checking a setting that logs you out of the system after "X" amount of time away from QuickBooks. Here's how to get there:

1. Click the Gear icon in the top right corner.

2. Select Account and settings.

3. Choose the Advanced tab to the left of the screen.

4. Scroll to the bottom of the page to view the Other preferences section.

5. Here you can click the small pencil icon in the top right corner to adjust the Sign me out if inactive for setting.

The following linked article provides additional info about the settings options in your account: Get started and adjust settings after you sign up for QuickBooks Online

With this info you'll be able to take a break without worrying about losing your work. Please feel free to reach back out if you have any other questions.
