Traveling overseas

I am traveling for 3 months to Costa Rica. I can't use QB online because it does not code for job & class for payroll, which I need.  I have QB 2019 installed in 2 computers, have saved my backup file from my desktop to my google drive. How do I open the google drive saved version on my laptop so that I can work on this file while traveling?

Thanks.

You can assign payroll to Classes in QBO.

They recently announced that you will be able to assign payroll to Projects (jobs) starting in 2019

Thanks for checking this with the Community, @Jane2018,

I can add a bit more with accessing your QuickBooks Desktop account.

You're still able to work with your QuickBooks Company file; you'll only need to download the backup file from your Google Drive, then restore it on the Quickbooks installed on your laptop.

To make sure you don't get any issues when restoring the file, you must save the file locally. Once you're done making changes, you can create a backup then save it back to Google Drive.

Also, in addition to the @Malcolm Ziman's answer, you can use jobs or classes for your payroll checks in QuickBooks Desktop. You may check out this article to know more about the process: How to set up job costing and item tracking for payroll expenses

That should do the trick for you, @Jane2018. I hope you have a great trip, and enjoy your time in Costa Rica. Please feel free to get back to me if you need further assistance.

I following both of these threads.  For the online's ability to do job coding for payroll I have not found out anything definitive from calling QB.

On the download on the laptop side of things, I know how to restore. I just don't see my Google Drive as an option on the laptop. That is most likely my inexperience so do you know how to make that happen?

Third option is I can pay the Quickbooks Enterprise fee of $107/month for this 'service' ~ not my favorite option.

Thanks

As I see it I have 3 options:

1) Online ~ I called them to ask if this is happening, searched the internet and I don't find any other information about this except for Malcolms optimistic answer.

2)  I do know how to restore a company file, but the problem is that it is in my google drive and I don't know how to make that an option in the restoring process.  Ideas? I'm somewhat limited in my computer expertise.

3) I can always pay $107/month for Quickbooks Enterprise and cancel when I come home ~ not my favorite option.

Thanks.
