Two Devices

Usually this involves moving a backup file back and forth to restore on the device under current use.

Optionally you self-host or hire-host your single company file and using multiple user access both devices can access the same single ser of data at the same time

Two Devices

Hello there, Rowe744.

We can set up and install a multi-user network for QuickBooks Desktop so the two device on your network can get access to the same information or files as suggested by john-pero. When setting up a multi-user network, a server computer is required to store your company file, which is accessed by the working stations.

Here are the steps on how to do it:

  1. Download and then install QuickBooks Desktop on your server computer. (If you haven't done it). Then, select Custom and Network install for the install type and follow and complete the instructions to finish the installation.
  2. Set up folder permissions on your server computer.
  3. Install Database Server Manager.
  4. Set admin rights to your sever computer.
  5. Scan the folder that holds your company files.

Once done, you can then turn on the  Multi-user Access on your server computer. Here's how:

  1. Go to the File menu.
  2. Select Host Multi-User Access under Utilities . Then select Yes to confirm.

Let me add to what @SarahannC has spelled out. If you will use multi-user access each computer requires its own specific license for Quickboks. The additional device install allowed by the EULA does not cover tgis additional license requirement
