Join nowGood Afternoon,
I am fairly new to Quickbooks and taking over where a previous bookkeeper left off. I'd like to create a backup of Quickbooks so no information is lost, but in doing so I received several error messages with one stating, "Quickbooks found some problems with your company file, but don't worry! You can fix most issues by rebuilding your company file." Has anyone had experience with rebuilding the company file? I'm not the one who set up the company file and I'm just afraid I could lose everything if I don't rebuild the file correctly. Any advice? Thank you in advance!
Rebuild is QuickBooks' built-in repair tool. It's quite reliable and you can't really do anything wrong.
Run it by picking File | Utilities | Rebuild Data... from the QB menu.
The process will automatically create a backup (even though there's damage in the file) and then will repair the file. Afterwards, close and then open the company and then run Verify from the same menu location to ensure Rebuild was able to fix everything.
Thank you for your help!
