When logging in to QBO I am asked to choose between two user accounts, one of which is an old deleted one. It's not in the users list. How can I eliminate that choice?

Greetings, bcolumbus!

Allow me to assist you in resolving your login issue.

The most likely cause of this behavior is that an account has been created with the same email address as your other accounts. Although it's best to use the email address associated with your account as the user ID, you can use whatever user ID you like, which is why QuickBooks Online prompted you to select which user you want to access.

I recommend that you log into your Intuit Account. Then, select the user ID you wish to get rid of. Update the email address under the Sign in & security section to make it unlinked, and you won't be prompted to choose a user ID when signing in to QBO.

I also included this article if you have other concerns in logging in to QuickBooks Online: Get help if you can't sign in to your QuickBooks Online account.

If you require additional assistance, I will be available. Keep on posting!

Thanks for the reply. I should've been clear when I said it was a deleted one. The "other" user account is not available when I look in the list of users in QBO. (and, I am the admin.) I already log in with my email address. And logging into Intuit, I have no other accounts in Linked Identities. This old account was deleted quite a while ago, and may have had my email address associated with it at the end, but until recently this prompting for which account I want to use wasn't happening. And if I select to use the "other" account, I get an error that the account doesn't exist.

Making sure you'll be able to log in to the correct account and remove the deleted one is our priority, bcolumbus.

QuickBooks Online (QBO) lets you create and add multiple companies under the same account. For now, eliminating deleted accounts isn't an option. You'll want to let our product team know how this will benefit your business. You can go to the Customer Feedback page to check if related concerns have already been submitted by other QuickBooks users. If not, you can send feedback instead.

Furthermore, you can use the project's feature to track your project's profitability. Learn from this article for your guide: Set Up and Create Projects In QuickBooks Online.

Let us know if you have any concerns about your QBO account. We're here to further assist you.

So if eliminating deleted accounts isn't an option (which makes very little sense) is it expected behavior that a user is prompted to use that account? In other word, is this functioning as designed? And if so, why did this only begin happening a few months ago, when this account was removed over a year or more ago?

To be clear, there's only one company - and both my active/used account and this old deleted account are affiliated with that one company.
