I want to ensure that your Profit and Loss report will be exported to Excel with no issues.
When exporting reports in QuickBooks Online make sure that you're using the 64-bit version of Excel. This can help you open the exported reports smoothly.
If the same thing happens, I'd recommend accessing your account on a private window. It isolates the cache, which is the common cause of unusual behaviors in browsers.
Here's how to open a private window:
If that works, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. Otherwise, open an alternative browser that's available for you.
If the issues persists, I suggest contacting our Customer Care Team. They have the tools to check on this matter and help identify its root cause. This way, they can apply a resolution.

I appreciate you following up on this thread, nasar.
It's good you've performed some troubleshooting steps beforehand. Let me help further and get this sorted out.
To ensure we can export the Profit and Loss report into Excel, you might want to update the Office 365 Protected View settings. This can be done by following the outlined steps in Microsoft's What is Protected View? article. I'd recommend visiting their page and being guided from there.
If you continue encountering a zero balance on reports after updating the protected view settings, you'll want to get in touch with our Customer Care Team to have this investigated.

Sharing in case anyone can benefit from my experience. We used to manually export reports to Excel and, as reporting and data analysis became more prominent in the company, we decided to automate this process. Since we don’t have an Advanced license, we couldn’t leverage the built-in spreadsheet sync by QBO and ended up using a 3rd party solution to help automate reports extraction to Excel and G-sheets, including P&L. While there are a few on the market, we really liked what Coupler.io has to offer and stuck with it. Hope this helps.
