I'm glad to hear that you were able to resolve your issue by clearing your cookies, @seamusiclover.
Doing this can indeed help you resolve unexpected behaviors like authentication errors.
Here are a few additional steps you might consider to prevent this issue from recurring:
Additionally, you may want to explore our Firm of the Future page to stay informed about the latest news and product updates on QuickBooks products.

@seamusiclover If it is of any use in future, I have found one workaround that seems to be permanent.
Like you, when I first log into this community, it almost universally stops me from making more than one post or comment of any kind with authentication errors.
However, if I fully close my browser and open it back up, it 'logs me out' but still has me 'logged in' to the community. Not surprising that Intuit cannot manage its own cache even on a forum, though. This has to be the most incompetent tech-adjacent company I have ever engaged with.
I've seen teenage webcomic artists create a more stable website, let alone the industry leader that Intuit is supposed to be.
@RogelioL "Moreover, you might want to check out Firm of the Future to keep updated about our latest new and product updates."
Yes, because nothing makes a person want to see more of your work quite like a website that functions worse than the forums people built in the 80s.
