Why does the Reconciliate Account wizard insist the starting balance is wrong when the reconciliation report and account register both show it is correct?

Additional information: I reconciled the account in question on 5/25, but when I attempt to reconcile it now, QBO reports there is a $99 discrepancy.  The following are facts:

 

1. The balance in the register on 5/25 is exactly what it was when the account was reconciled.

2. The reconciliation report in QBO still shows the balance on 5/25 is 100% correct.

3. Since 5/25, no transactions were inadvertently marked 'R' for Reconciliated.

4. No transactions prior to 5/25 were deleted (confirmed with an Audit report).

 

The audit log does show that a transaction in the amount of $99 was deleted on 6/9, but that transaction was NOT marked as 'R' and it was deleted, therefore it should not be figuring into this at all.

We can perform some troubleshooting steps to see if this error is because of a browser issue. Let's start by using an incognito window and check again the reconciliation page. We can also clear the browser's cache since it can result in unusual behavior in QuickBooks Online.

 

Additionally, make sure that the browser you're using is updated. If this issue persists, please reach out to our Customer Support Team. That way, they can check your account to see what's causing this incorrect beginning balance.

  1. Go to Help and select Contact Us.
  2. Enter Beginning Balance in the question field and select Let's talk.
  3. Choose either Start messaging or Get a callback.
