I have a budget for a project set up in 2023.  Actual expenses for 2024 will not show on the report even though I change the dates to all dates

Will the budget report show actual expenses from multiple years?

I am here to assist you with troubleshooting the issue you are facing, cindy.

The budget report gives you a comprehensive view of the actual expenses incurred over multiple years. With this information at hand, you can pull up the Budget vs. Actuals report that offers a detailed comparison between your budgeted accounts and actual account totals.

To run this report, here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. In the search bar, type Budget vs. Actuals.
  3. Click the Report period drop-down arrow, and then select All Dates.
  4. Ensure to hit Run report

If you want to personalize the report according to your preferences or requirements, you have the option to customize it as per your liking.

If the issue persist, we can perform some troubleshooting steps to determine if the issue is related to your browser. You can start by opening an incognito window to prevent your browsing history from being saved. Here are the keyboard shortcuts based on your browser:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

Alternatively, you can clear the browser's cache to eliminate common errors that may hinder the application from working properly. Clearing the cache will reboot the system, allowing you to work with a clean slate. You can also use other supported browser's to see if the issue persists.

Will the budget report show actual expenses from multiple years?

The answer ignores the question "Actual expenses for 2024 will not show on the report even though I change the dates to all dates," and the supplied solution doesn't work.

What's needed is a long-term budget report, showing totals for each year.

Will the budget report show actual expenses from multiple years?

I understand the challenges about the actual expenses not showing on the report, @rbryanh. I'm here to help you fix this.

Most of the time, problems associated with running reports in QuickBooks Online (QBO) have something to do with the browser version. For this, I recommend ensuring your browser is up-to-date. Here's a list of supported browsers:

  • Internet Explorer is no longer a supported browser.
  • Google Chrome: version 78 or newer
  • Mozilla Firefox: version 76 or newer.
  • Microsoft Edge: version 79 or newer
  • Safari: version 12 or newer (Mac only)
  • Opera: version 68 or newer
  • Samsung: version 10 or newer

Next, after ensuring that your browser is up-to-date and the issue persists, I suggest accessing your QBO account through your browser's incognito mode, as this can be also a cache-related issue. Here's how:

  • Google Chrome: Press "Ctrl + Shift + N"
  • Mozilla Firefox: Press "Ctrl + Shift + P"
  • Microsoft Edge: Press "Ctrl + Shift + N"
  • Safari: Press "⌘ + Shift + N"

When this works, please proceed to clear your browser's cache. Doing so will remove and fix any problems and optimize the program's performance.

If the issue persists, I recommend contacting our support team. They have the necessary tools to review your account and investigate the root cause of your concern.

Here's how:
