It's not the kind of experience we want you to have with your QuickBooks Online account. However, I am here to guide you in resolving the problem you are having with your beginning balance while reconciling your account, @timncar

To correct the beginning balance for 2022, you can try a few things. First, make sure to double-check the opening balance of the account you're trying to reconcile. This balance should be the exact balance of your bank account on the day you want to begin tracking your transactions. After that, look for any transactions that may have been entered incorrectly or missed in your account. If you find any errors, you can correct them to get your balance back on track.

You can go to the Chart of Accounts of your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account to edit the opening balance.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon () and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Find the account and click on View Register.
  3. Locate the opening balance entry.
  4. Edit the date, then the amount. If needed, select Edit to make your changes.
  5. Click on Save.

Check out this article for more information about entering and managing opening balances in QBO. It'll guide you in organizing your chart of accounts to keep it accurate.

To find errors or missed transactions, it's a good idea to compare them with your bank statements. Check out this article to learn how to enter and remove transactions in QuickBooks: Fix issues at the end of a reconciliation in QuickBooks Online. Just go to Steps 4 and 5 for the instructions.

Refer to the following article to learn more about what usually causes the errors with beginning balance and on how to resolve it: Fix issues for accounts you've reconciled in the past in QuickBooks Online

In case you need to remove individual transactions from a completed reconciliation, here's how to unreconcile them.

Let me know if you need any further information or assistance in reconciling your bank account successfully. I'm always happy to help in any way I can. Have a great rest of your day!
