A year's worth of wrong reconciliation dates in QB Desktop

I'm working on a new client's QB where their reconciliation date has been inputted incorrectly at one point and was not caught in time for an easy fix. What I mean is that an account was reconciled 1/1/2023 when it should have been reconciled 1/1/2021. Now it has been a year or more of reconciliations where the date is off by two years.

Is this fixable at all on QuickBooks Desktop without having to undo years of reconciliations and starting from scratch?

A year's worth of wrong reconciliation dates in QB Desktop

Good morning, @dcsare

I appreciate you coming back to this thread and reviewing those steps my colleague provided.

The best route for your situation would be to undo the reconcile and then make any changes you need to from there.

You can refer back to the links my colleague gave for additional details on reconciling within the system.

Please, let me know if you have any other questions. Take care!

I don't think there is any way to update the dates or that this causes any issues.  Next time you reconcile, enter the correct ending date and QuickBooks should go from there in the following months.

Unfortunately, after putting in the correct date to reconcile, it doesn't seem to make a difference for some reason. It's stuck in the future date.

Thanks for reaching out to the Community, dcsare.

To change dates on prior reconciliations, you'll need to make use of your Undo Last Reconciliation option.

Here's how:

  1. Initially, I'd recommend performing a backup of the company file you're working with.
  2. In your top menu bar, go to Banking, then Reconcile.
  3. From the Begin Reconciliation window, click Undo Last Reconciliation.
  4. Select Continue, then OK.

I've also included a few detailed resources about reconciling which may come in handy moving forward:

I am aware of this method, but I was hoping there was a short-cut method when it comes to having to adjust a year or more of reconciliations.
