American Express transactions not updating so I uploaded manually now I'm having an issue matching with expense

American Express and QB aren't talking to each other right now.  Its been over 2 weeks and we need to pay our bills!! I've uploaded my transactions via csv files but now they won't match with the expenses.  I've spent a lot of time the last 3 days with customer support to no avail.  This last person told me that they will let me know when the issue is resolved! I need to pay our bill!!! I can't wait!! Not the best costumer service!!!

Can anyone help??

It can be extremely frustrating when we cannot perform the tasks we need to do, @maryl2210. I'm here to ensure your concern is taken care of.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), we can manually upload and match those transactions easily. Since you mentioned you're having problems matching the transactions, may I know what's preventing you from accomplishing this task or if you've encountered a specific error?

It would be helpful if you could provide me with the details or a screenshot of the problem you've encountered, as it will help me to come up with accurate resolutions.

In the meantime, we can check for the possible reasons as to why we're unable to find a match to the uploaded transactions, it might be that:

  • The payees, amounts, or dates don't match.
  • The transactions are older than 6 months.
  • The bank account on the payment isn't the same as the bank where the match is located.
  • The payment has been reconciled.
  • The record is already matched to another transaction.
  • There are multiple currencies involved, and the exchange rate has shifted significantly, making the amount very different.

Alternatively, we can use this workaround to find a match to your uploaded transactions. With that, we have to ensure to select the appropriate account.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Transactions, then Bank transactions
  2. Select the account you want to review.
  3. Choose the For review tab to start your review.

QuickBooks sends downloaded transactions to the For review tab. Review them one by one:

  • If the category field is blank:
    • Choose a category from the dropdown.
    • Add a new category to the dropdown.
  • If the category field has a category suggested by QuickBooks:
    • Confirm that category
    • Change that category by choosing another one from the dropdown or adding a new one.

If the issue persists, I recommend using an incognito browser. Doing so will prevent the browser history from being saved.

Please refer to the following keyboard shortcuts based on your browser type:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

For more information about matching your transactions, read this article: Categorize online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online

Additionally, I'll add this article about managing your uploaded transactions: What to do if you get a bank error or can't download transactions in QuickBooks Online

Let me know if you have more questions about your uploaded transactions in QBO. I'll be here to assist you. Keep safe.

@maryl2210

Use MT Online or one of the converter tools with a one time license (e.g csv2qbo @ $60) for the time being.
