Are the recurring transactions with reminders no longer disappearing from the reminder list after they are used?

Thank you for reaching out here in the Community, @StewHard.

You can rely on QuickBooks Online recurring transactions feature to save time and eliminate errors. You can automate repetitive invoices, reminders from a bill or check, and more by using recurring transactions. A recurring transaction template won't disappear from the reminder list after use. This template lets you automatically send a transaction for future use while saving time and reducing mistakes as you use them.

QuickBooks allows you to view a list of all your recurring transactions and the accounts they are associated with. Here's how to review your recurring transactions in QBO.

Additionally, I'd like to add this article for you to read for future reference: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Please let me know if you have other concerns about recurring transactions in QuickBooks. I'll always be around to assist you. Have a great day!

Are the recurring transactions with reminders no longer disappearing from the reminder list after they are used?

Up until a few weeks ago, The template would disappear from the reminder list and reappear the next time it occurred. It seems to require an extra step if I need to first Choose "Edit and Create" or just "Create" from the transaction and then go back and choose "Skip." Am I missing an easier way? I guess that I'm trying to say is that when I Create a transaction from the reminder list it NO LONGER automatically sends to the list for future use. It stays on the list for the Transaction date that I have already entered. I used to get a message that the transaction had already been created if I tried to enter the reminder a second time.

Are the recurring transactions with reminders no longer disappearing from the reminder list after they are used?

I'm experiencing the same issue.  We use recurring transactions with reminders to create a shell for most of our monthly bills and then update invoice numbers and amounts when the invoice is received.  Up until a few weeks ago, we could find the transaction in the reminder list, make the updates and save it.  The transaction would then be automatically removed from the reminder list until the next scheduled reminder date.

Now, it is a 2 step process.  We have to create/edit the transaction from the reminder list.  Then we have to skip the transaction in the reminder list to manually remove it from the list of transactions that need to be recorded.

The reminders are still functioning for certain transactions though.  If the reminder is for a deposit or a journal entry, the reminder disappears once you create and edit the transaction from the list.  If the reminder is for a bill, it doesn't function as it used to though.

Let me share some updates about this reminder issue, StewHard.

I can see the importance of QuickBooks being able to work the way it was before. We have an ongoing issue with recurring reminder templates next date not updating. We've identified this investigation as INV-91805. Our engineers are already working to get this fixed as soon as possible. While we don't have a temporary workaround at the moment, I recommend reaching out to our support team so they can add you to the list of affected users.

Additionally, once these recurring transactions are paid, QuickBooks downloads them automatically. Learn how QuickBooks categorizes each transaction. Check out this article for more details: Categorize Online Bank Transactions In QuickBooks Online.

Please touch base with us here if you have further questions about the reminder list. We're always here to help you any time of the day.

Are the recurring transactions with reminders no longer disappearing from the reminder list after they are used?

I am experincing the same issue. It caused me a lot of problems at first because I didnt notice right a way. Now I am wondering if I should continue to use the REMINDER list if it is not going to disapear after use. I have to REMBER to skip the REMINDER after I use it!!! I did put a ticket in and was supposed to get a call back.  Never did.  How will we know when this problem is fixed? Or will it just start working again?

Hi there, @Barb.

I know how convenient it is to use the reminder list for recurring transactions. Let me give you an update on the ongoing investigation and route you in the right direction.

Currently, our engineering team is diligently working towards finding a permanent fix. As of the moment, we can't tell you the estimated time for the resolution of this issue.

While working on this matter, you can continue performing the workaround you've mentioned which is manually skipping the reminder after using it.

Furthermore, I understand that you've already reached out to our support. However, I recommend contacting our phone or chat support again to be added to the affected users list and to get an update on your ticket.

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to contact us:

We have the same issue.  After 6 months of using Quickbooks Online and having more issues than I can count, I'm convinced that there is no group at Quickbooks that tests their software before releasing it.

I'll ensure our engineering team will work and resolve this issue as soon as possible, MLCBookkeeper.

I apologize for any inconvenience caused by the issue with the recurring reminder templates. Our team is actively working on a solution to fix this issue, and we appreciate your patience and understanding while we work to resolve it.

With that said, I recommend contacting our Customer Support team to add your account to the list of affected users. This will ensure you receive email updates on the case status and are notified once it is resolved. To get in touch with us, you can either request a call or initiate a chat:

  1. Go to the Help menu and tap the Search tab.
  2. Click Contact Us.
  3. Enter a brief description of your concern and press Continue.
  4. Select either Start a Chat or Get a Callback.

Are the recurring transactions with reminders no longer disappearing from the reminder list after they are used?

I too am having this same problem. I have for months and was hoping it would just get fixed...but no. not yet. I called support yesterday. After spending 2 hours on the phone with NO resolution. I did ask if this was a known problem and she said no and spent forever (2 hours) trying to fix it. I guess I should have looked here first as I did one quick search and found this thread. So I guess qb staff is still working on fixing the issue.

My question is will I be notified when it's fixed or will it just magically start working again?

Are the recurring transactions with reminders no longer disappearing from the reminder list after they are used?

This is so f**^%d up.  It is still not fixed.  The reminders do not disappear after use and for the past 6 months it's duplicate work to go back in and hit skip.

When creating my bill out of a reminder, the open PO's never pop up anymore, so now i have to save the bill as is, close the reminders, and then go to the vendor and reopen the bill to be able to match it to open PO's.

Today, every time I create a bill from a PO and try to save, it says are you sure you want to leave without saving,.... I just hit save and close.  Then, the PO stays open after flipping it to a bill, so now I have to go back in and manually close the PO after I create the bill.

This is so ridiculous.

Every week is a new bug that never existed before that makes everything so complicated.  We've used QBO for the past (6) years.  I've dreaded finding a new program, but I just can't take this anymore.  Nothing works like it previously did.  It used to work so perfectly, stream lined, and efficient.  Now everything is so messed up.  I am trying to train a new team member and every week something new is broken... it's impossible to train someone.

Are the recurring transactions with reminders no longer disappearing from the reminder list after they are used?

I understand how this situation impacts your Business tasks. Allow me to provide other information to fix this matter, @zoey.

When you convert or copy a purchase order into a bill, the purchase order will automatically be marked as closed. To ensure accurate records and avoid the PO being used to create another bill.

Considering that the reminder persists even after the investigation is resolved, I suggest basic troubleshooting for QuickBooks Online (QBO), which occasionally displays unusual behavior due to cached internet files. The following keyboard shortcuts can launch an incognito window or private browser :

  • Safari: Command + Shift + N
  • Google Chrome: CTRL + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge: CTRL + Sh

If it works, I recommend clearing your cache and cookies to update any website settings that could potentially conflict with the program's functionality. If not, you can switch to a different supported browser that is compatible.

Yet, if the issue remains after trying the troubleshooting steps, please reach out to the Technical support team so they can further investigate this behavior.

Here's how you can connect with our support team:

1. Click on the Help button inside QuickBooks Online.

2. Select Contact Us.

3. In the description field, enter Account Status, then select Let's talk.

4. Click Get a Callback to connect with our team.

This thread has nothing to do with purchase order conversion. The topic is the bugs in the reminder lists.

Are the recurring transactions with reminders no longer disappearing from the reminder list after they are used?

Does anyone from Intuit have an update on whether this bug will ever be fixed, or whether the product team considers this behavior of reminders not disappearing after being used to be QuickBooks somehow working as intended? It makes reminders exceptionally frustrating to use, and there's no remotely logical reason for why this behavior would be beneficial to any customer.

Are the recurring transactions with reminders no longer disappearing from the reminder list after they are used?

As of today, this issue is now impacting recurring journal entries in the reminder list too.  In the past, those transactions used to disappear from the list when edited and entered.  Now we have to skip those reminders after we have entered the journal entry, similar to how we have been skipping reminders for bill transactions for the last 6 months.  Is anything going to be done to resolve the issues with the reminder list?

Are the recurring transactions with reminders no longer disappearing from the reminder list after they are used?

I appreciate you going back to this thread, MoMc2.

As I've checked, the investigation has already been marked as resolved. For now, I recommend performing browser troubleshooting steps. Let me help you by logging into your QuickBooks Online account using a private browser.

Sometimes, cache-related issues can cause QuickBooks Online (QBO) to load incorrectly. As a result, this has caused the reminder list not to work properly.

Here are some common steps that can resolve unexpected results in QBO:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

If you can successfully log in using a private browser, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. If not, you can use a different supported browser.

If the same thing happens after the browser troubleshooting steps, I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Online support team. Please check out our support hours to ensure we can address your concerns promptly.

Furthermore, you can refer to this article to learn how to personalize and add specific info to your sales forms: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online

If you still have concerns about your journal entry, don't hesitate to post it in the Community. I'm always here to help you out.

Are the recurring transactions with reminders no longer disappearing from the reminder list after they are used?

MoMc2....I completely understand what you are going through. This issue began affecting me today with the reoccurring journal entries. I read this whole thread and started a chat since QB seems to think this issue is resolved on their end. 1 hour and 25 minutes later, after screen sharing and showing him the actual issue in action, the gentleman on the chat told me, "I do think that proper education on how to correctly use recurring transactions would be the best option here." Really??? I wasted all that time on a chat for the man to tell me he thinks I don't know how to use QB. No matter how hard I tried, over all that time on the chat, I could not get him to understand that this was a function that used to work consistently. I am at a loss for what to do here and am greatly disappointed by the support QB has offered.

I understand the importance of keeping reminders visible on the list in your invoice in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @Rebecka P.

Are the recurring transactions with reminders no longer disappearing from the reminder list after they are used?

The frustration continues.  Still have to "skip" reminders after using them to get them to update to the next interval date in the recurring transaction list.  Why?

The history shows that TWO investigations have been opened.  INV-91805 and INV-97602.  Are they really both marked as closed and RESOLVED?  Please explain the resolution.

On 3/1/2024 I asked to be added to INV-97602 and Angelo confirmed "I was able to pull up the account and check the ongoing investigation. I will attached your email now to the INV-97602 and I will also create a case for your concern and attached it to the ongoing investigation as well so your name will be put to priority list.”  I have not received any updates.

Please provide an update and do not tell me the investigation is closed and resolved without explaining HOW it has been resolved.
