bank balance different from QBO balance

My bank balance is different from the QBO balance. I stopped downloading bank info after 3 months and the bank balance is stopped at that balance. the QBO balance is correct. I excluded and deleted all 3 months of downloaded transactions and reentered them manually. All transactions are reconciled but the bank balance is still the same. Is there a way to reset the bank balance

Hi there, ecg0717. I'd like to clarify your concern. The bank balance in QuickBooks reflects the amount shown on your bank’s website and includes only transactions that have cleared from your bank. On the other hand, QBO balance includes all transactions you've entered into QuickBooks, whether or not they’ve cleared the bank (such as outstanding checks, deposits in transit, manually entered journal entries, or expenses).
 
Discrepancies between the two balances are normal and often happen due to timing differences or manual entries. There is no option to reset your bank balance. While you can disconnect and reconnect your bank account, it will still display the same bank balances because it reflects the actual balance from your bank.
 
Since you stopped downloading bank transactions into QuickBooks, you can click the Update button on the banking page to refresh the feed and download recent transactions again. This will allow QuickBooks to sync with the current balance from your bank and refresh the feed automatically.

To ensure accuracy, check your Reconciliation Report and compare it with your bank statement. This will help you identify any unmatched transactions or discrepancies.
 

Alternatively, if you’d prefer not to use the automated feature or don’t want the bank balance to be displayed (or want no bank balance at all), you can disconnect your bank account. Then, manually upload transactions from your bank and categorize them in QuickBooks.

Unfortunately, the bank balance is still there with the same bank balance, after I excluded and deleted all downloaded entries and reentered them manually. I will be entering items manually for the forseeable future. As far as I can tell there should be no bank balance since there are no bank transactions. I know the QBO balance is correct. Since this is accounting I would like the numbers to align and would be fine if there was no "bank Balance" at all. Thanks for the input, but not sure how to correct the problem.

The Bank Balance in QBO is the actual bank balance of your account from the last bank feed update, while the QuickBooks balance is the sum of all bank transactions that you've added or matched.

 

To resolve this issue and ensure both balances are aligned, please disconnect the bank from your online banking. This will refresh the bank balance in QuickBooks.
