Bank Feed Rules

Hello! We are trying to set up Bank Feed Rules and for certain accounts would like it to be automatically marked as 'Billable', instead of having to manually check the box when adding details to each (un)recognized transaction. We are using QB Desktop Enterprise 2024. Any tips or advice appreciated! Thanks!

Bank Feed Rules

Thanks for reaching out to the Community, Finaco.

You can create rules in Express Mode, Advanced Mode, or from transactions. Each mode will display and handle transactions differently.

Here's how to create rules in Express Mode:

  1. In your top menu bar, go to Banking, Bank Feeds, then Bank Feeds Center.
  2. Click the Rules icon and use your Manage Rules drop-down, then choose New. You can also hit Edit Rule to modify an existing one.
  3. From Add Rules Details, name your rule and set its conditions. If possible, this is where you'll be able to mark it as billable.
  4. In the When section, add or remove conditions for descriptions.
  5. Access your Do this section and provide a new name or add categories for accounts.

You can also create Bank Feeds rules automatically:

  1. In the top menu bar, go to Preferences, then Checking.
  2. Access your Company Preferences and open Express Mode.
  3. Tick the checkboxes for Create rules automatically and Always ask before creating a rule.
  4. From your transaction list in the Banking Center, specify a name and account, then select Quick Add.

You'll be able to find additional details about working with Rules in our Create rules to categorize transactions article.

Please feel welcome to send a reply if there's any additional questions. Have a wonderful Monday!
