Bank losing entries.

Wow, this program is getting worse. When I am doing a bank rec and need to add an expense i do. Shows up and i reconcile it. Go back later on and it's gone. Have to reenter again. Could it be save and enter new not working. Frustrating as heck. Having to do reconciliations for a all of last year. Any help would be appreciated because I have more important things to do than messing with a system that is going wonky. Noticed problems showing up last September and also now running extremely slow even with fibre net high speed.

Bank losing entries.

Hi there, BigTick.

I know how important it is for you to reconcile your accounts in QuickBooks seamlessly. Allow me to provide some troubleshooting steps to help isolate the cause of this issue.

Before anything else, you mentioned adding an expense, reconciling it, and not seeing it afterwards. Let's access the bank register and check if the created transaction is visible and has been reconciled.

Kindly follow the steps below to open the bank register.

  1. Click the Gear icon. Then, select Chart of Accounts under Your company.
  2. Locate the affected bank account. Then, press View register under the Action column.
  3. Find the created transaction. If it's visible, check the Reconciliation status (✓) column.
    • R - The transaction has been reconciled.
    • C - The transaction has cleared the bank.
    • Blank - The transaction hasn't been reconciled.

From there, you can double-check if the transaction has been saved but not reconciled. In that case, just click the Reconciliation status column until an R appears to reconcile the transaction.

On the other hand, if you can't find the transaction, here are some troubleshooting steps to perform. It's possible that the pages are not loading correctly due to a browser-related issue or an outdated cache. To determine the root cause, let's start by accessing your account in a private window. This will allow QuickBooks Online to start with a clean slate and may help resolve the issue.

Here are some keyboard shortcuts to access an incognito window on supported browsers:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Option + P

Once you've logged in to your company's account using a private window, recreate the transaction and reconcile your account. If everything works smoothly, I recommend clearing the cache in your regular browser to remove outdated files. Alternatively, you can also use other supported browsers.

For future use, here's an article on generating reconciliation reports: View, print, or export a reconciliation report in QuickBooks Online. It's a helpful reference when conducting reconciliations for the next months.

If you have any other questions about transactions and reconciliations in QuickBooks, please feel free to leave a reply below. I'm here to help you out. Stay safe!
