bank reconciliation

I have reconciled 2022 but there are receive payments transactions that are showing in the reconcile window from 2020 and 2021 and for 2022. Without selecting these transactions I was able to reconcile to the bank thru Nov 2022. I just started working for this person and they wanted me to start with 2022.

The transactions are showing as uncleared transactions on the reconcilation report.

What happened to create this and how do things need to be done going forward.  I have never encountered this before.

I would appreciate any help in guidance to resolve this.

Thanks!

bank reconciliation

Hello there, ChristineD65.

Let me help you fix your reconciled transactions showing as uncleared in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

An uncleared transaction means that there's a posting transaction impacting your bank. This payment has not been cleared and matched with this transaction in the banking section.

If you want to remove the payment added, you'll want to undo them if they're added from the Banking.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu and select the bank where the transaction is coming from.
  2. Click the Reviewed or Categorized tab and select the transaction that’s causing this error.
  3. Select the Undo button.

The transactions have now been returned to the For Review tab, where you can exclude them. If these are manually entered transactions, you can remove them from the customer or vendor's list of transactions.

Here are also some of the articles that can help you fix any errors you'll possibly encounter in reconciling your accounts:

That means that payments were recorded as received but never deposited.  You will need to look at each one and determine what happened.  Click on the transaction in the reconcile window and then click Edit.  This will bring you to the invoice(s) in which payment was recorded as received.  You will need to determine if payment was actually received but not deposited or if the payment received was recorded in error.  Is the business on cash or accrual basis?
