BB&T merged to Truist now 2 QBO accounts

When BB&T became Truist, we were no longer able to connect to the BB&T account. We followed advice I found online and created new Truist accounts and were able to connect.

Now we are plagued with duplicate transactions, transactions showing up randomly in either account, and some expenses impossible to change the payment account from BB&T to Truist. We can't manage to reconcile our accounts.

We want to either smoothly merge the accounts, or at least have all transactions recorded on one default account. I don't see a solution in QBO or in the forums.

Thanks for any help.

BB&T merged to Truist now 2 QBO accounts

Hi there, @Klindquist.

I'll guide you on how to n fix issues with online banking.

If your bank merges with another, you'll probably have to adjust how you access your accounts online. You might also get error numbers like 162, 102, 108, or 525 when trying to connect to your bank accounts.

In case this happens, follow the steps below to resolve:

  1. Verify how to access your online accounts with your new bank (the one that currently holds your account). For their online banking page, the new bank should provide you with a new URL and login details.
  2. Check that you can access your accounts from the new site using the new credentials you were provided by going online. If not, get in touch with the bank for help.
  3. Disconnect the old account from QuickBooks Online and reconnect with your new credentials.

For more information about handling bank transactions, see this: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.
