It's great to have you here in the Community, @ggfim. Let me share what we can do with your bank account and its transactions.
We can't delete a bank account in QuickBooks Online. If you decide you don't need to use that bank account anymore, we can disconnect it or make it inactive.
To begin with, I recommend disconnecting your bank account if it's connected to online banking instead of making it inactive.
Here's how to remove it from the Banking menu:
- Go to Bank Transactions, then select the tile for the bank account.
- Click the pencil ✎ icon, then choose Edit account info.
- Select the Disconnect this account on save checkbox. Note: If QuickBooks is downloading new transactions, you won't see this option. Wait a few minutes for the update to finish, and try again.
- Click Save and Close.
Upon disconnection, QuickBooks will delete the uncategorized transactions in the For Review tab.
On the other hand, we can make an account inactive if you don't need it anymore and it's not connected to a bank or credit card. Allow me to guide you through the process:
- In your QuickBooks Online, click Accounting from the left menu and select Chart of Accounts.
- Find the bank account you connected from the list.
- Click the drop-down arrow under the Action column.
- Select Make Inactive, then click Yes to confirm.
Once you delete an account, the transactions will remain, and we will have to delete it manually.
However, if you're new to QuickBooks and your transactions are still small, you can purge your data and start over.
