I know how important it is to update your banking transactions promptly, @baabcorp2016. Rest assured that I'm here to share the details about this issue, and how to take care of it.
I appreciate you for providing the error 176 you've received in the Banking page. This is a script error generated by the bank that may cause an issue with updating the banking feeds. Thus, it stops QBO from downloading transactions for three days now. We also receive the data on how the bank communicates with our system. Because of this, we're unable to determine if we can fix this today. However, I've got the steps to help resolve this.
First, I'd suggest clicking the Report Issue option to notify us. Then, enter your name and email address within the error message section. That way, we'll work on our end to resolve this. For more information, see Step 3 through this article: What To Do If Bank Transactions Won't Download Or There's A Bank Error.
Second, please wait for a few hours. Then, let's manually update the account. It helps refresh the bank connection within the program, so it'll download the transactions worth three days. I'll guide you how.
Once fixed, let's go to the For Review tab. From there, you can edit, assign, and categorize the transactions. You can also match them to the existing entries in the software. It helps you ensure your financial records are correct. To learn more about this process, check out this article: Categorizing Bank Transactions.
Also, I'd want to make sure this banking issue will be taken care of. May I ask the name of the bank you're trying to update the transactions in QBO? This way, I can check here on my end if there's an ongoing investigation about the banking error and how to fix it. You can click the Reply button below to add some details.
I'm just a post away if you need further assistance. Keep safe always. Stay healthy, @baabcorp2016.
Has this been resolved? I am getting the same message "Sorry, we can't update your account. Please wait a few hours and try updating again (176)." on QBO with client's Huntington Bank connection.
Thanks for letting us know about your banking issue, LizSnay.
The Error 176 you get usually fixed itself within 24 hours. Otherwise, you'll want to manually update your bank account in QuickBooks Online (QBO) to help refresh the connection between the two.
If this doesn't seem to make any difference, we can try performing browser troubleshooting to know if it's a browser-related issue. . First, let's use a private browser when accessing your account. This is for us to ensure your browser isn't storing any data in the cache. The stored cache helps your browser quickly load the pages. However, too many of them may affect the browsing performance thus, causing QBO to encounter errors.
You can refer to the keyboard shortcuts below:
Once logged in, let's manually update your downloaded bank transactions in the Banking tab again to see if this refreshes your bank transactions.
To do that:
Here's how:
Additionally, it's important to review all the downloaded bank transactions. Doing so ensures you have an accurate record. I encourage you to check out this article to learn more: Categorize and Match Online Bank Transactions.
I'll be on the lookout for your response. If I can be of any assistance, please don't hesitate to leave me a comment below. Have a wonderful day ahead.
