Join nowWe have 9 credit cards linked in QuickBooks, they are all on the same AMEX account, and some of the charges are linking to the wrong card. how to I fix that?
Hi there, hsijob.
Let me share some ideas on how QuickBooks handles an Amex account with multiple credit cards.
If you are using the same credential to the multiple accounts, only one can be connected to the bank feed. For the other accounts, we can use a Web Connect to import them in your book. On the other hand, if you're using different credentials for each account, we can go back to the banking page disconnect the wrong account and then, connect the right one. Here's how:
It would be better to set it as a parent account since downloading transactions from your bank will only associate with one account. It'll go through which account is connected or mostly to the parent one.
Let me know if there's anything I can help you with. I'll be around to assist you. Keep safe!
So your saying I can only link one card(the main/parent one)?
Good afternoon, @hsijob.
That's correct. It's best to connect only the main/parent account to the Online Bank Feed. You can add the other accounts as subaccounts in the Chart of Accounts so you can separate the transactions as it shows in your statement. No worries, I'm going to provide you with a few Community Articles that go more into detail on how to set up parent and subaccounts, along with how to reconcile the transactions:
That should put you on track with how to keep your books organized.

Your bank may have posted those statements to Lowe's American Express. That's why they're showing on the parent account in QuickBooks Online.
You'll want to know how your bank sends the downloaded transactions. If entries download to Lowe's American Express (parent account), connect it. If not, connect each sub-accounts, not the parent one.
You can’t connect both a parent account and its sub-accounts. If you try to connect both, you’ll get a message that the account is already connected.
I suggest contacting your financial institution. There maybe changes on their website and you'll want it updated.
I've added this link: About bank or credit card subaccount setup for more details about the information stated above.
Also, you only need to reconcile the parent account. All entries in the sub-accounts are part of it. See How to reconcile accounts for detailed steps.

I only have the sub ones connected. ok I will contact AMEX. yes when I reconcile I just do the lowes amex account, not each card. Can I call QuickBooks instead?
Good Afternoon, @hsijob.
Thanks for reaching back out to the Community. Before contacting our Customer Support Team, I recommend consulting with AMEX first. If they're not able to resolve the issue, then you can follow the steps below on how to get in touch with our Support Team.
Let us know how it goes. I want to make sure all of your concerns are addressed. Bye for now!
I contacted support, but they couldn't really help either. So I just unlinked all the card, and going to just enter the charges through expenses. Dont really want to do that but dont have much of a choice. Thanks for you help!
Hi there, @hsijob.
Allow me to chime in and share some insights about using the WebConnect feature to get your transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
You can import your bank transactions in QBO instead of manually record them as expenses individually. Let me show you how to do it.
To import your transactions, you can use Web Connect files. This lets you download the transactions from your bank's website, so you can upload them into QBO. The supported file types are:
