Bank of America digital support, retail support, and credit card support were unable to help. Basically said that the limits are hard limits and can't download more than that timeframe from our site. So, the next step would be to manually enter information from downloaded statements. The easy-is way to do this would be to copy info from the statement and paste to excel, combining a few months of data, then upload directly to QBO. However, BoA statements are formatted in such a way so that when you copy the data it does not paste into Excel nicely. I'm now researching optical character recognition software to go from PDF(or image/screenshot) to Excel spreadsheet without too much cleanup needed.
If anyone from QBO is reading this, it would be fantastic if there was an option to download historical bank transaction data directly into quickbooks. Even for a fee, it would be worth it to me. Split the cost with the bank, and there you have another revenue source to allow "historical transaction downloads" from the major banks. Will you set this up? I'm either going to spend hours trying to figure this out, hours typing line after line of data, or i'm going to pay to outsource this task. Might as well make technology work for us by just linking up to download directly from BoA, right? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I'm actually hoping that i've just overlooked a feature or a toggle or some little trick that allows this download to happen. Anyone know? Thank you!
Hi there, katie-blueribbon.
Welcome to QuickBooks Community! Let me share some details about linking your bank account.
QuickBooks Online is dependent on what the bank provided. The best way to bring in the old transactions is by manually uploading it.
Though QuickBooks Online won't allow PDF files, you'll want to visit our QuickBooks Apps Store. From there, you'll see all supported third-party applications you can use including those file converters.
Also, I've included this link for more details:
I'll be here if you need more help. Stay safe and healthy!
