connecting to credit card

I have connected my bank to QB.  My savings and checking accounts are visible, but I do not see the bank credit card.  How would I go about linking the bank credit card so that I can see the transactions?

I can help connect your bank to QuickBooks Online (QBO), @Heather_m.

First, may I know what specific bank you are trying to connect with? Also, have you tried using a private browser when connecting your bank with QuickBooks? Any details can help us narrow things down so I can provide an accurate resolution.

Additionally, QuickBooks depends on the data provided by your financial institution. There are banks that don't connect to all types of accounts. It could be why only your savings and checking account are displayed.

I'd suggest reaching your bank to request or connect your credit card. If it goes well, select the correct bank name when linking the account.

In the meantime, you may consider manually uploading your credit card transaction in QBO. I'll show you how.

  1. Sign in to your bank or credit card website.
  2. Follow your bank institution to get or download CSV files of transactions.
  3. Log in to QuickBooks Online and go to the Banking menu.
  4. Hit the Upload transactions button.
  5. Click Browse, then choose the file you downloaded from your bank.
  6. Select the account you want to upload the transactions into from the QuickBooks account drop-down arrow, then hit Next.
  7. Follow the on-screen instructions, and click Next.
  8. Select Let's go.

My bank is BECU, and i'm already connected to the bank.  My checking and saving accounts are visible in QB, it is only my credit card that is not showing up in QB.  The credit card is through my same bank.

To clarify: I have already connected to my bank.  I can see my checking and savings accounts in QB, it is only my credit card that I am unable to see in QB.  The credit card is through my bank account.

I appreciate you for coming back to the thread and adding extra clarification about your concern, Heather_m. I'll ensure you'll be able to see the Credit Card account in QuickBooks Online after following the steps below.

When you connect a bank in QuickBooks Online, it depends on your bank's agreement. That said, it could be the credit card you've tried to appear on QuickBooks isn't authorized to connect to the program and that's why you're unable to see it.

I suggest contacting your Financial Institution to verify if your account supports a connection with QuickBooks. Once you verified that it allows you to link your CC to our program and you are still unable to see it, I recommend logging in to your QuickBooks account using a private browser. This is to rule out the possibility of a webpage issue, and private browsing doesn't store local files or cache.

Use these keyboard shortcuts based on the browser you're using:

  • For Firefox or Microsoft Edge, press Ctrl + Shift + P.
  • For Chrome, press Ctrl + Shift + N.
  • For Safari, hold down Command + Shift + N.

If it works in incognito, I recommend clearing the cache of your regular browser. This removes the history or log of sites so you can start with a clean slate. If the steps above didn't work, use another supported browser as an alternative.

On the other hand, before connecting to Online Banking, you'll have to know how your bank sends the downloaded transactions. If the entries download to one account, connect only the parent account. If the transactions download to the individual accounts, connect the subaccounts and not the parent account. You can’t connect both a parent account and its subaccounts because you’ll get a message that the account is already connected once you tried to connect both.

Lastly, you may refer to this article to see various details on how to review downloaded bank and credit card transactions by matching or adding them to avoid double transactions: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.
