Credit Card Imports

We purchased and began using QuickBook's Online in January, of 2018.   The Accountant and I just finished setting-up the Chart of Accounts and now I am going back, reviewing, and allocating all the bank and credit transactions.

Our bank and credit cards have been linked since the first of the year.  However, I noticed that the last time our credit card information was imported was over 100 days ago (the end of July).  There are no messages to update the sign-in information.

Why did these stop importing and how do I reactivate the import so all year-to-date transactions appear in QuickBooks?

Thank you!

We appreciate you choosing QuickBooks Online in managing your business, @kdhpmc2.

I can help you import your credit card transactions in QuickBooks Online.

After syncing your bank, only those transactions less than 90 days will get into QuickBooks. In order for all the year-to-date transactions to appear in QuickBooks, you will need to use the Webconnect Tool:

  1. Download transactions from your bank's website.
  2. Login to your QBO account, select Banking from the left menu.
  3. Select the Link account drop-down arrow then click Upload from file.
  4. Press Drag and drop or select files to upload, and then select Open.
  5. Select Next.
  6. Continue the prompts.

I synced the bank accounts and the credits cards 12/31/17.  The credit card transactions stopped importing into QuickBooks 7/28/18.  Do I follow your instructions to import the transactions from 7/29/18 to current or is there another way to fix this?  (The bank account syncs to QuickBooks daily).  Thank you!

Greetings, @Anonymous.

You are correct, the WebConnect process explained above is the ideal method for obtaining those transactions. When you set up a bank account sync for DirectConnect, where transactions are automatically downloaded to QuickBooks Online daily, banks are only capable of sending over a limited amount of prior transactions. Because of this limitation, the steps for obtaining the file and importing it under File Upload are the best way to get those missing items.
