Credit Card not listed for Bank Feed

Target Card Services (RedCard) downloads QuickBooks OFX data file.

I cannot find either Target Card Services or RedCard to set up the bank feed to import the OFX data.

If you know how to accomplish this please direct me.

Thank you

Hi Cherylle!

Thanks for reaching out to us. Let me help you in importing your transactions into QuickBooks Desktop.

I understand that you need to link your Target RedCard. I checked and verified that it's one of the unsupported financial services in QuickBooks Desktop.

For now, you'll want to manually bring in the transactions. Note that QuickBooks Desktop only supports QBO files when importing them. Go to the File menu, hover over Utilities, select Import, then Web Connect Files.

Also, I suggest you send feedback to our developers. Let them know that you need Target RedCard to be included in the list of participating financial institutions. Go to the File menu, select Send Feedback Online, then Product Suggestion.

I added this link if you need more help in setting up bank feeds: Set up bank accounts for Bank Feeds in QuickBooks Desktop. This includes articles on how to categorize transactions and edit the bank feed settings.

Post again here and I'll assist you if you have other concerns. Wishing you all the best!

Thanks for the suggestion. I will check it out for some other bank and credit cards that do not offer QuickBooks as a download option. I currently use the CVS format and then massage it to input, but importing correctly formatted data is much faster.

This problem is not with the format as it is formatted for QuickBooks but that I cannot find either Target Card Services or RedCard as a credit card that QuickBooks can set up with.

This 'solution' didn't work for me.  I am able to download a QBO file from Target, but when I do as instructed "Go to the File menu, hover over Utilities, select Import, then Web Connect Files" & click on the downloaded file I get this message,

ERROR  !QuickBooks is unable to verify the Financial Institution information for this download. Click here to view common fixes for this issue.  I reviewed the common fixes but none seem to apply if Target is one of those  "unsupported financial services"  Why ever is TJmax supported & Target not?  What am I missing?

Hello there, gtclover.

Appreciate you for trying the recommended solution shared above.

I see that you were able to import data from Target. You can visit our QuickBooks Desktop app center to check out a supported third-party application that would help download data from unsupported services within your company file.

Here are the steps on how to do it:

  1. Go to Apps for QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. From the QuickBooks Compatibility section, choose the QuickBooks Desktop version you're using.
  3. Type in the clue word of the specific app you're looking for.
  4. Click the magnifying glass to search.

To learn how to fix import issues in QuickBooks Desktop, you can visit this link: Import your transactions into QuickBooks.

I've also included this reference for a compilation of articles you can use while working with us: Help Articles - QuickBooks Desktop.

Thank you, I tried one of the apps which resulted in a .qbo which QB would accept, but created incorrect entries in the register (a charge became a payment).  Also, even if this approach worked I would have to use it every month the App was only a Free Trial & costly after that.  Why can't QuickBooks just "support" such sizable financial institution such as Target? Providing the best experience with the product is what we aim for, @gtclover.

I know how beneficial it is to your business to download transactions in QuickBooks Desktop using Target. With this said, I'd recommend sending this request straight to our product engineers through feedback. Sharing features and options that you would like implemented is how our engineers look for new product updates. Here's how:

  1. Go to Help at the top menu bar.
  2. Choose Send Feedback Online.
  3. Click on Product Suggestion.
  4. Click on the drop-down for Type of Feedback and select Product Suggestion.
  5. Select the Product Area.
  6. Then enter your thoughts and suggestions.
  7. Once done, select Send Feedback.

For incorrect entries in the register (a charge became a payment) using a third-party application, it would be best to consult their technical support. Any questions about integrating the app into your software are best handled by the third-party app provider. For more tips and other resources, you may visit our page in managing your business in QuickBooks: QuickBooks Self-help articles.

I'll be right here to continue helping if you need help with reconciling your bank accounts or any QuickBooks-related. Assistance is just a post away. You have a good one.

Thank you, I'll keep looking for a solution & send feedback as recommended.  Right now I’m entering data manually, which is a pain & can lead to more errors, but I keep wondering, after going through the many apps on the Quickbooks Apps page, I did not see any that would simply convert an Excel csv files to .qbo files (most seem to work via pdf files).  One, "Dynamic Ventures General Journal Entry", "will transfer data from the Excel file into QuickBooks and will create General Journal Entries with the imported information”.  This seems potentially useful if the files can be used to import data to CC or Bank account registers.  Do you/anyone here know if that software would be useful in this situation?  Target provides a qbo that QB does not support, but our Bank of America account, which we use for international rental payments, does not provide downloadable .qbo files but does provide .csv files.  Pretty much all CCs & banks have downloadable .CSV's!  An app that converts .csv files to .qbo format could be useful in both situations. Is anyone in this Community aware of such an application?

Most of the Apps I see in the QB Apps list do much more than I need &/or cost a lot.  We used to be a bigger company but are now just a small ‘Mom & Pops’ organization.  We started with QB in the 80's and have a lot of history with the software.  Starting over with completely new software is almost unthinkable to me right now.  Thanks

This does not work - you cannot "bring it in manually" as you suggest. Only manually enter EVERY.SINGLE.TRANSACTION. I am tired of this - been doing it for years! Now QB has increased from $170 every 3+ years to $600/yr! I expect this to work! When you try to "bring it in manually" it gives you this error msg: QuickBooks is unable to verify the financial institution information for this download. As you also mention the QB developers have not  included it in the list of participating financial institutions. The time to do this is NOW. It should have been included in the upgrade....all the "new features" they supposedly added since 2020. I am setting the bar higher for QB after this massive, ridiculous price increase. Can someone please help with this long-standing, very frustrating problem? It causes me hours of extra work and headache each month.

The procedure I have been using in place of directly importing transactions is by using Accountant Toolbox batch entry. I download the transactions into Excel then adjust the columns to match the fields for batch entry for credit cards, and then copy and paste the transactions. Next I manually enter the vendor name in the appropriate field and assign the COA for each line. Finally I accept the transactions.

This obviously works but is far more time consuming than a direct import.

Thank you to everyone who offered suggestions.

HA. I do not have QuickBooks Enterprise....I have Pro...so this method you are using is not available to me. SMH. This is truly inconceivable to be paying this amount for QB with no solution to this simple problem. Anyone? QB help reps are you here?

I do not use QuickBooks Enterprise either. I use QB Premier Accountant, but it is also available when I am using my client's QuickBooks Pro. My client has me set up as an external accountant so I log accordingly. I then go to Company menu and select Unlock Accountant Toolbox and log in with your Intuit username and password. Once you have done this you will find the option to batch enter transactions. (check, deposits or credit card transactions) I am including a link to the instructions.

I hope this helps you.

Again, thanks so much for your assistance. Yes, it's only Enterprise or Accountant that has these options. And you would have to have an Intuit log-in for one of those to unlock the Accountant Toolbox in Pro. I recently purchased Pro for $600 per yr (tax included) when I used to pay $170 every three (or more years). I'm just expecting a little more now, although so far they have provided the same service they always have (and we all know what kind of service that is). There should be an option in Pro to upload transactions on an Excel file. I'm SMH....unbelievable.

You can use a 3rd party tool as a workaround.

Hello Fiat, thanks for the reply. Only certain types of transactions on Pro; I believe it's customer lists, item lists....stuff like that. But no option for bank transaction upload on Excel. I guess my only option is to look for a 3rd party tool. Can anyone tell me where to look and what to look for (or stay away from) to keep my computer safe. Very wary of 3rd party anything....

Hello there, @ash5181. I'll chime in and provide insight into importing bank transactions from an Excel file into QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

While I’m unable to recommend a specific app, I can direct you to a website where you can look for an application that allows you to import bank transactions from Excel. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to this link: Apps for QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. From there, enter a keyword in the Search field, such as "Excel".
  3. This action will display a list of apps. Use the Filters section to narrow down the lists.
  4. Click on the View Profile button to see more details about the software.

You can also look for a third-party app outside of the QuickBooks website.

Additionally, kindly check out this article to learn how to import and export information in QuickBooks: Import and export data in QuickBooks Desktop. It includes the lists and transactions you can import into the program.

If you have other questions about importing data into QBDT, let me know by adding a comment below. I'll be around to help. Have a great day!

@ash5181

If you only need to import bank statements, use a converter tool. You will import the file as *.qbo into QB.

https://www.moneythumb.com/?ref=110

Otherwise, you can prepare your data in XLS format and use an importer tool
