Credit Card Reconciliation

Hi there, @Cjparr

I'll help you reconcile your accounts in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Did you create a parent account for these accounts in QuickBooks? If so, you'll only need to reconcile the parent credit card since all transactions in the subaccounts roll up into it.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Settings ⚙ and and select Reconcile. If you're reconciling for the very first time, click Get started to continue.
  2. From the Account ▼ drop-down list, choose the account you want to reconcile. Make sure it's the same one on your statement.
  3. Review the parents Beginning balance. Make sure the beginning balance in QuickBooks matches the one on your statement.
  4. Enter the Ending balance and Ending date on your statement.
  5. If you see it, review the Last statement ending date. This is the end date of your last reconciliation.
  6. When you're ready to start, click Start reconciling.

Before reconciling, make sure you match and categorize all of your downloaded transactions.

If these accounts aren't under a parent account, then you can manually reconcile each one of them.

If you need further help reconciling, see How to reconcile accounts for a step-by-step guide.

In case you reconciled a transaction by mistake, here's how to unreconcile it

You're always welcome to comment below if you have other banking concerns or QuickBooks inquiries, @Cjparr. I'll be around to help. Take care.

Credit Card Reconciliation

Hello, Cjparr.

Yes, that's right. You must add the other two credit cards as subaccounts. Then, you can connect the subaccounts rather than the parent account if the transactions download to individual accounts. Refer to this link in disconnecting account to online banking: Disconnect accounts connected to online banking in QuickBooks Online.

Once done, you can link the subaccount to the parent account. I'll show you how.

  1. Go to the Settings ⚙ and select Chart of accounts.
  2. Find the credit card account you want to edit.
  3. In the Action column click Edit from the dropdown.
  4. In the Account window, select Is sub-account checkbox.
  5. Choose the parent account under the Enter the parent account dropdown.
  6. Once done, hit Save and Close.
  7. Repeat the process on the other credit card account.

When it's the right time to reconcile, you only need to reconcile the parent account because all transactions in the subaccounts are rolled up into it.

You can use this article to organize your downloaded credit card transactions: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or need assistance managing your credit card accounts. I'll respond as soon as possible.
