Delete memorized transaction from reminders page

I have a memorized transaction on my reminders list that was out of date.  I went to the memorized transaction page and deleted it.  However, it is still showing up on my reminders page.  Now I can't complete it because I deleted it.  How do I get rid of it from the reminders?

Hi there rtully-gustafson,

Thank you for reaching out to us!

Transactions appear in the Reminders page if they were marked to send or print later. Since the memorized transaction has already been deleted, we'll need to remove it from the send/print queue.

Here's how:

  1. Go back to the Reminders page.
  2. Double-click the transaction.
  3. Uncheck the Email Later or Print Later box.
  4. Click Save and Close.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Hi Diane, thank you for the response.  The memorized transaction was to create a check.  When I double-click on it on the reminders page, it brings me to the memorized transaction list, which no longer contains this transaction as an option.  I never actually created the check for me to uncheck the email/print later box.  Is there another way that I can do this?  Thanks, Rebecca

Hey there @Murkey,

Thanks for trying out the steps I suggested above. I'd like to help you further with this.

Let's reset your QuickBooks release updates and make sure it's installed successfully for critical fixes of your QuickBooks desktop.

Here's how:
  1. From the File menu and click Close Company/Logoff.
  2. Click File at the top menu bar and click Exit.
  3. Right-click the QuickBooks Desktop icon on your desktop.
  4. Click Run as administrator.
  5. Make sure you are in the No Company Open screen.
  6. From Help menu, choose Update QuickBooks.
  7. Click Options tab and select the Mark All button then click Save.
  8. Click Update Now.
  9. Click Reset Update then click the Get Updates button.
  10. When the Update Complete message appears, close QuickBooks Desktop.
  11. Open QuickBooks Desktop. If you get the message to Install update, click Yes.
  12. When the Installation is complete, Restart your computer.

I have a similar problem and have don the above update but that did not fix it.  I have a memorized transaction reminder for a journal entry that has been deleted but keeps popping up as a reminder.  I have tried accepting the transaction to get rid of it but when it tries to post I see this: "The memorized transaction named "..." is invalid and cannot be recorded."  Any thoughts on how to fix this error?

Not sure if you figured this out or not yet. I had the same problem. I went in and created a fake transaction for the same vendor for $1, and saved it as a memorized transaction. I then exited the quickbooks file and then opened it back up to trigger the memorized transactions pop up. Then I hit enter all. I then deleted the transaction from the 'enter bills' screen, and then deleted the memorized transaction from the list itself and voila, problem was solved. I hope this helps.

I am having this same issue with 2 memorized transactions.  I had one memorized transaction selected for Auto entry.  Then I deleted and when that didn't work created a fake transaction, was notified it was a duplicate transaction and did I want to replace it.  I selected yes hoping that would give me something to work with.  Now I have 2 transactions that pop up as a reminder every time I log on and I can't get rid of them.

Thanks for trying some steps to resolve your concern, Smiths1934.

I'm here to help delete the memorized transactions.

When there's an unexpected result in QuickBooks Desktop, we always recommend updating it to the latest release. Then, let's run a verify/rebuild to fix any potential data issue. Please follow the steps I've laid out below:

To update QuickBooks:

  1. Click Help at the top menu bar, then choose Update QuickBooks.
  2. Choose Update Now at the top.
  3. Select the updates on the table
  4. Click box next to Reset Update.
  5. Choose Get Updates.

To Verify:

  1. Click File at the top menu.
  2. Go to Utilities then select Verify.

To Rebuild:

  1. Click File at the top menu.
  2. Go to Utilities then select Rebuild.

Once done, delete the memorized transactions.

Here's how:

  1. Choose Lists at the top menu bar, then select Memorized Transaction List.
  2. Right-click the transaction, then choose Delete Memorized Transaction.
  3. Select OK.

These troubleshooting steps should get you back on track. I'd appreciate if you can update me on how it goes. I'll be here and ready to help anytime. Have a good one.
