direct connect

I have been a quickbooks user for several years, and used it to pay bills through my Bank of America accounts via direct connect.  I used to buy a desktop version every three years for around $200.  Last year Intuit decided to move to a cloud-based subscription service.  The new service was $250 PER YEAR.  In spite of the over 3 times increase I didn't have time to look for alternatives so I subscribed. Now I find out that the banks are all discontinuing the direct connect system ,but I can sign up with another company, Melio, which charges $1.50 per check that is sent via mail.  I AM SO SICK OF Quickbooks! I paid $250 for the subscription that now will not work. Anyone interested in pursuing a Class Action suit? I'm going to start calling lawyers tomorrow.

You can signup for a separate Melio account for free to integrate with QBO and pay bills for free by ACH and check with USPS.

This isn’t the experience we want to leave to you, @mcm2.

I know how convenient direct connect is. Please know that banks control everything, which means they determine their buffer. You can contact your financial institution to verify this and help you out.

QuickBooks developers always search for ways to improve user experience by promoting helpful and efficient features to streamline processes that suit your business needs. Aside from the suggested feature (Melio) shared by our Community backer Fiat Lux – ASIA, you can also use Online Bill Pay powered by Bill.com. It helps payments easier, all in one place, without switching between two products.

You can read these resources to learn more and its process:

I appreciate you for sharing this concern with us. If you have any other questions or concerns besides direct connect, please don’t hesitate to reach back out. We’ll be here to help. Take care always!

I contacted Bank of America, and spent 40 minutes on the phone with the Online Banking team and they couldn't find a reason that Bill Pay and online check services would no longer be functioning.

It's frustrating when updates to a product make it worse rather than better, even more so when you're provided contradictory explanations about whose fault the downgrade is.

BofA: The service is still active, it should still work.  I don't know why they would remove that functionality.

Quickbooks: BofA decided this feature would no longer be functional.

Hello McLaneDental,

I can see that this is related to your other post on a different thread. You can refer to the answer of my colleague: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/banking/re-bank-of-america-new-connection/01/11465...

You may comment on that thread if you have more questions.

Wow!  I am still connected via direct connect with Chase Bank, but I'm having major issues, most importantly having missing transacations.  Trying to reconcile my credit card statement with 192 purchases for the month, and I'm finding that only 92 of the 192 downloaded!   This is crazy!  Not sure who is the culprit here.  Chase bank is saying Intuit stop providing support for direct connect.  Is that a lie?  Who stopped direct connect?  The bank or Quickbooks?  If I have 8 accounts downloading transactions using the Intuit "bank feed", am I really being told I have to manually download a "web connect" file and import separately? This cannot be true!
