Hello there, @hannah-buddyshen.
Thanks for asking us here in the Community. I'd want to make sure I'll provide you with the correct information. May I know which data file you want to register? Or are you converting from Quicken to QuickBooks Online?
In the meantime, I'll leave you this link with the complete steps of moving your Quicken data file to QBO.
I'll look forward to hearing you again with the information needed. Take care!
I am not 100% sure of which data file is supposed to be registered. I guess it is the data file from my bank. I do not have quicken. I am new to quickbooks and I have linked the account within quickbooks but my bank has a linked portion on their end as well, and that is what I'm having trouble connecting.
Let's get the transactions downloaded, Hannah-buddyshen.
Basing on your statement, it seems like you're referring to the two-factor authentication. It's a security feature set up by your bank account.
Moreover, QuickBooks Online is dependent on what your bank shares with us. The security process still depends on what the bank imposes. For access, you'll want to reach out to your financial institution.
However, if you're referring to the bank's URL when you stated about your bank's linked portion, you'll have to use it to connect the bank account to online banking. It's to ensure you'll select the accurate account from the list.
Once your account is successfully connected, you can start to categorize and match the transactions.
Feel free to get back to this thread if you need more help with your banking issue. Take care!
Utilize the trial version of SlickConnect to isolate the issue. It is designed to import into any bank or credit card in QuickBooks Online, so there is no specific setting needed. If the same error persists, there is an ongoing problem at your bank.
