Does QuickBooks Online allow you to enter transactions directly into your Bank Register, as with the Desktop version? Thank you!

I have a small biz with a small number of transactions that I just enter into QB at year-end from my physical check register. This is how my accountant told me to do entries, just so reports can be run for taxes. It's really all I use QB for -- enter into register

Thanks for using QuickBooks Online to track your business transactions, @faithabrill. I know how important it is to enter your transactions directly into your bank register. I'm here to ensure you can do it seamlessly.

Follow these steps to proceed:

  1. Go to the Accounting menu and select the Chart of Accounts tab.
  2. Find the account register that you want to add your transaction to. If you're new to QuickBooks, select See your Chart of Accounts first.
  3. Click View register from the Action column.

  4. Choose the transaction type you want to add.

  5. Fill out the fields to complete the transaction.
  6. Once done, select Save.

Check out this guide for more detailed instructions: Manually add transactions to account registers in QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, I encourage you to reconcile your accounts every month. This way, you can effectively manage your income and expenses and detect any possible errors accordingly. For the step-by-step guide, you can refer to this article: Learn the reconcile workflow in QuickBooks.

Please don't hesitate to post again if you have other questions about managing your bank transactions. I'm just around to help. Have a great day, faithabrill!

Thanks Kevin, but I was asking about a way to enter DIRECTLY into the Register without an additional window. I called customer support and they were able to help with a solution. It's still one extra step, but closer to what I've been doing.

Thanks Kevin, but I was looking for a way to type entries DIRECTLY in the Register without having to open a separate window for each transaction, which the Desktop version allows. I called customer support and they were able to assist me.
