This is an issue for me also. Not sure who to blame - Quickbooks or BMO Harris? Pissed that BMO had a perfectly working website for the last 7-10 years - but they decide to blow it up? Now my business can't even download transactions into QB. I will give it another 3-4 days - and if this doesn't get fixed, I'll move all our personal and business accounts out of BMO Harris.
Thanks for reaching out to us here in the Community, Magnum44.

Still waiting for a QBO/Harris Bank connection..
Hello there, @kmcgoverness.
Let me help share the latest update in connecting Harris Bank with QBO.
I've already checked the investigation and this issue has already been tagged as resolved. Let's try doing the manual update to refresh your account:
If prompted, enter your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) credentials and select Continue update.
If you still can't connect with your bank after the manual update, I'd suggest reaching to our Online Care Team for a scheduled callback.
Here's how:
Please let me know how it goes. I'll be here to help if you have additional questions about your bank connection.
This issue has not been solved.
Hi there, @kmcgoverness.
Thank you for getting back to us and providing the results.
I've checked my resources, and this investigation is already resolved (the same as what LilyC mentioned). If you've already tried manually updating your bank and are still unable to connect your BMO Harris Bank with QBO, I suggest providing your contact details for a callback.
You can use the steps and screenshots my colleague provided to give your phone number, name, and email address. You can scroll up a little to view it.
Let me know if there's anything else you need. I'm still here to help you more.
I was on the phone with your team last week and again yesterday...the issue is still outstanding. HarrisBank rolled to a new website and it does not show up in the list of connections for QBO.
Hi @kmcgoverness,
You have the option to send a bank integration request. I'll be glad to assist you with this.
Once done, you'll be able to send a request for Harris bank's integrated connection with QuickBooks.
Here's an article you can read to learn more about your bank's connection: How to Identify the Correct Bank?
If there's anything else I can help you find in QBO, reach out to me by posting a comment below. I'm always ready to help.
This is not helpful and from my perspective, unresolved. For those of you using QBO Quick Books Online (not a local copy), I gave up. I am continuing to use the old Bank Name and URL: BMO Harris Bank N.A. - Retail, SB with a URL of www3.harrisbank.com I suspect this will work until BMO pulls the server. From what I understand (or think), they switched servers and no one at the bank can give me a strait answer on what the bank name should be - I've been given different names that none of which are on the QBO options to 'Add a Bank'. I still don't believe they pulled their documentation that is online and incorrect. After 10 days of hanging on the phone with the bank, emailing without response, contacting QB, I resorted to Facebook. This banker told me the bank communicated with QB the changes but QB uses a 3rd party to do their changes and they must not have completed them - again - don't really know what the bank name should be or the URL. No support. No answers. Banking with the old bank name and URL continues to work.
Greetings, iibamadisonchapt.
Thanks for getting back to us and sharing your insight regarding this matter. Allow me to chime in and provide additional clarification.
You've got it right. Once their transition to the new server has been completed, QuickBooks would automatically adjust and add their new URL to our Participating Financial Institute (FI) List. It's the list that you can see when you try to add a bank account to QuickBooks.
Until then, it's generally recommended to use the old connection in the meantime. It will be updated once the integration will be finalized and the old URL will be disabled on the FI List.
Let me know how else I can help you succeed with QuickBooks. I've got your back and am always happy to help.
Does this URL www3.harrisbank.com still work for you? It isn't working for me anymore. I suppose the only option at this point is manual upload until something gets prioritized from Quickbooks side?
Great to see you here today, @kmcgoverness,
Thanks for joining our forum. I can add a bit more about connecting your BMO Harris Bank with QBO.
I've checked to see if there is an ongoing investigation with your financial institution but found none. When you say the bank URL does not work, did you receive any error codes or messages? If so, what is the exact issue are you getting? Any details you can provide will help us narrow things down.
In the meantime, let's try updating your bank in QuickBooks. Here's how:
If you're still getting the same problem, try resending the bank integration request. Follow these steps:
If you still can't connect with your bank using the URL, try using a private or incognito browser. Here's how:
Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
Internet Explorer: press Ctrl + Shift + P
Safari: press Command + Shift + N
That should help you fix the bank issue you're getting. Please update me how this goes. I want to make sure you get connected to your bank. Have a good one!
What is going on me too? BMO website only downloads to a CSV file which Quickbooks will not open!!
Hello there, @BILLSLZ.
I'm here to help ensure you'll be able to download/upload adn open the CSV file successfully.
First, please make sure that file has the correct format when importing transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO). In addition, please also ensure that the file doesn't break any of the following formatting restrictions:
To learn more and for the detailed instructions, you may check this article: How to import bank transactions using Excel CSV files.
However, if the format is correct and the issue persists, I recommend getting in touch with our Support Team to check and verify this further this for you. For the support's contact information, you may check it here: Contact the QuickBooks Online Customer Support team.
Please know that I'll be always here to help you if you have any other banking concerns, just add a comment below. Have a great day ahead!
I am considering taking on a new client who banks with BMO. Is this now a manual download and then manipulate and upload process to QBO, or does QBO download directly? This will make a direct impact on my price quote to them!
Hello WStevens,
The steps that @Angelyn_T posted was only a workaround if the automatic download is not working. You can find the most recent automatic update in the Banking section. Let me show you how you can find it.
You can also perform a manual update by clicking the Update button to add any transactions that have cleared since the last automatic download.
Feel free to read this article for details: How to use automatic and manual online banking updates.
This article is also a good future reference: What to do if bank transactions won’t download.
The Community is always here to help if you have additional questions. Don't hesitate to reach out.
While I understand that the article was posted in case the download wasn't working, it sounds like the automatic download is NOT working and that the issue has not been resolved and has remained a problem from early January through now.
I know how to do the manual manipulation for other banks and I do not care to do that. If this is the case for BMO, I need to know so I can price my new client appropriately. Is the automatic download working, or not?
Hello WStevens,
Thank you for posting here in the Community. Allow me to help provide additional information about connecting your bank in QuickBooks Online.
Yes, the automatic download for the transactions is currently working for the BMO Harris Bank. All banks that you can connect will show on the list of results when using the search field on the Bank Feeds section.
Please see the sample screenshot below:
The data importing into the system will depend on the information from your bank's website. If you're getting any errors or unusual behavior while performing the process, please let me know.
This way, I'll be able to check on the system if there any reported issues from other users specific to what you experience. In case you need to reach out to one of our Support Specialists, you can also follow the steps I recommend down below:
Let me know if you have additional questions or concerns about connecting the bank. The Community will be around to assist you.
QBO does not download directly with BMO Harris. BMO Harris altered their login process to improve security for their customers and QBO can't work with the protocol. My understanding is there is no future likelihood that we will be able to see automatic updates any time soon. I have gone back to manual imports.
