How can I book discounted payments (like 5% 30, net 31) when the discount is earned on payment

Booking discounted payments in QuickBooks Online (QBO) is easy, and I'm here to show you how, @gary-4inkworks-c.

You'll have to manually add discounts on your sales forms (i.e., invoice and sales receipts) using QBO. To do this, you can either use the Discount feature or adding it as a line item.

With the Discount feature, you'll first need to turn it on from the Account and Settings page. This way, you can easily track and book discounted payments through it. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Under Your Company, choose Accounts and settings.
  3. Select Sales.
  4. Click Sales form content.
  5. Turn on the Discount option.
  6. Click Save82.PNG

Then, QuickBooks automatically adds the Discount field to your invoices and sales receipts. You can refer to the screenshot below for your reference. 80.PNG

In case you want to give discounts for set amounts, you can create a new product item that you can add to your sales forms. For the step-by-step guide, I'd recommend checking out this article's Add a discount item with a fixed price section: Add a discount to an invoice or sales receipt in QuickBooks Online.

Also, QuickBooks gives you the tools to create attractive and professional-looking sales forms. This way, you're able to add info that matters most to your business. To know more about this, you can check out this article: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Feel free to leave a comment below if you have other concerns about discounts and managing income and payment transactions in QBO. I'm always around to help. Take care and stay safe, @gary-4inkworks-c.
