How do I get my bank account to appear on my dashboard?

Let's try basic troubleshooting, bookkeeper72.

Let's isolate this case by using a private browser (incognito) when running QuickBooks. Private mode disables cache and cookies. Thus, a perfect place to isolate issues like this.

Here are the useful shortcut keys you can use to access one:

  • Ctrl+ Shift + N for Google Chrome A63.PNG.
  • Ctrl + Shift + P for Mozilla Firefox A64.PNG and Microsoft Edge A65.PNG.
  • Command + Shift + N for Safari A66.PNG.

If it works fine this time, you can go back to your original browser and clear its cache. Doing so helps delete unwanted piled up files and let the system revert to its default state. Also, you can use another supported web engine as an alternative.

If the error persists, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Online support.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company. Then click Help (?).
  2. Click Talk to a human.
  3. Choose Talk to a human.
  4. Enter your concern.
  5. You can either select Get a callback or Message an agent to get a representative on the line.

You can also check this link for more details and ensure to review their Support hours so you’ll know when agents are available: QuickBooks Online Support

How do I get my bank account to appear on my dashboard?

Hi there, bookkeeper72.

I can definitely guide you on how to get a bank account to show up on your Dashboard.

The accounts (regardless if they have a live bank feed connection or not) will show up on your Dashboard as long as the type is either Cash at bank and in hand or Credit Card. Other account types won't show up however.

If the didn't show on the Dashboard page, you can modify its account. Just a heads up, Changing the Account Type will affect the accounting and reporting. You might want to consult your accountant before doing this.

Here's how to edit it:

  1. Go to the Chart of Accounts tab.
  2. Click the arrow icon beside Account history.
  3. Choose Edit
  4. Set the account type to either Cash at bank and in hand or Credit Card.
  5. Click Save and Close.

If you need to record transaction  for an account, please check out our help content for guides: QuickBooks Support.

There you have it. Let me know if you have other concerns regarding QuickBooks Online. Here to help again.

How do I get my bank account to appear on my dashboard?

I have the same issue. My main bank account has been on the dashboard for months and has randomly disappeared. The settings are correct and haven't changed. Using an incognito browser makes no difference, still can't see the main bank account anywhere except in the Chart of Accounts or Bank Register. I can't upload transactions to reconcile my account.

I'm here to ensure you're able to view the bank account, @amandain.

You'll know when an account is still connected to online banking by following these steps:

1. Go to Gear Chart of Accounts.

2. Find the account you have connected.

3. Click the drop-down arrow next to the View register and select Edit

4. In the Account window, if you see the Disconnect this account on save option, this means your account is already connected.

Here's a sample screenshot:

However, if it's still connected and you're not seeing the accounts in the Dashboard, I'd recommend getting in touch with our Customer Support Team. This way, they can pull up your account in a secure environment and investigate this further.

Here's how:

1. Go to the Help icon.

2. Click Contact Us.

3. Enter your questions or concerns and click on Let's talk.

4. Choose either Start a chat or Get a callback.

For more details, refer to this article: Support hours and types.

Once you're good, QuickBooks will automatically download transactions so you don't have to enter them manually. Then, you can now review and categorize them.

Please let me know if you have additional questions or concerns. I'll be here every step of the way.

How do I get my bank account to appear on my dashboard?

Thanks so much for the reply. I am in NZ and my QBO do not offer connection to my bank account. We usually manually upload a csv file. However our main bank account is not showing on the dashboard, on the Banking menu, or if I drop down the lists  of bank accounts to choose from its no longer listed. It remains in our Chart of Accounts however and I when I edit the account the Detail Type is Bank. There is no option to connect or disconnect on saving. I have also tried to connect via chat to support and keep getting a message saying the chat is unavailable????
