How do I set the opening balance showing in the reconciliation window? it now shows $0 after copying and importing from another account

I copied an existing QB online file to a new account. When I open the register on the checking account in the new copied version it is showing a $0 balance in the reconcile window which is not correct. It did not import the reconciliation data from the other account it was copied from.

How do I set the opening balance showing in the reconciliation window? it now shows $0 after copying and importing from another account

Hi there, eastsidesocial.

Allow me to share some insights about this.

Once you migrated your data to another account the reconciled transactions will not be copied.

So, the possible reason it's showing $0  is the opening balance is not yet reconciled. You'll need to add an opening balance and start reconciling again.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Accounting menu.
  2. Select the Reconcile tab.
  3. From the Reconcile window, enter the information needed.
  4. Click Start reconciling.

How do I set the opening balance showing in the reconciliation window? it now shows $0 after copying and importing from another account

Thank you for your reply.

This was a copy from another QB online account. There is two years of data (1300 transactions) that was reconciled before it was copied over.

I don't understand why those reconciliations were lost. Now when I go to reconcile it has a beginning balance of $0.00.

How can I fix that?

thank you again for your help here.

I ended up going to the beginning and reconciling the account again up to the current statement.

NOTE TO OTHER USERS: copying a file to another account in Quickbooks online does not copy the reconciliation data.
