How do I switch from QB Self Employed to QB Small Business? Will all my data transfer?

You can convert from QuickBooks Self-Employed to the online version depending on the choices you have with your subscription. Let me show you how.

But before we proceed, it is recommended to save a copy of your financial report first before converting your data. That being said, let's proceed with the conversion depending on the choices you have.

1. Go to the Gear icon.
2. Under About you, select Billing info.
3. Select Explore QuickBooks Online Plans.
4. Click Switch plan or Choose plan.
5. Select Bring my data.
6. Click To QuickBooks Online.

If you have to open a new QBO account, make sure to click the Buy button to get the discounted price for up to 3 months. If you purchase from the Trial account, you have to pay the regular rate.

I purchased QBSE through my iPhone app.  I want to transfer everything over to QBO.  It won't let me use the automated process because I paid for QB through my apple app.  Now what?  Why does it matter how I paid. Don't answer that, but please tell me how to stop paying through apple app and start paying though quickbooks on my computer so I can have a smoother and less time consuming transition.

You have to contact Intuit Support to migrate your billing method first from AppStore. Then you can prepare your new blank account to migrate data.

I have a client with a similar problem, but he can't access the gear icon because his QBSE subscription lapsed so it's blocking all activity.  The only options it gives him are to sign out or pay for QBSE again (a service he doesn't want), which is absurd because I've already paid for him to upgrade.  How do I fix this?

Your client can either automatically or manually switch from QBSE to the QuickBooks Online (QBO) version. I can see that the issue about their subscription prevents them from accessing their account and migrating their data.

Since the Community is a public forum, and we'll need to collect some personal information to pull up your client's account, I encourage you to let them reach out to our Customer Care team. They have all the tools to investigate this matter and provide them with all the necessary details they need to migrate. To do this, here's how:

1. Go to the Assistant menu.
2. Type in Talk to a human in the Type something... (twice).
3. Select the I still need a human option.
4. Choose either Message an agent or Get a callback.
