How do I undo a previous reconciliation?

QBO says I deleted a transaction after reconciling it. But it was correctly deleted and the bank statement is right so I just want to start over with the previous reconciliation, and that should fix it.

How do I undo a previous reconciliation?

Let me elaborate some details on how you can undo a previous reconciliation, Treasurer.

You'll have to make sure to undo the previous reconciliation before you delete a transaction so QuickBooks won't prompt you the message. Please know that you can only undo a reconciled transactions one a time. To do so, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Accounting menu. Then select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Find the account and select View register.
  3. You can filter the register to only include the last 60 days of transactions.
  4. Review the check column. If the transaction is reconciled, you’ll see an “R.”
  5. Select the box and keep clicking it until it's blank. It removes the transaction from the reconciliation.

  6. Click Save. Then close your register.

Once done, you can now delete the transaction. I've also added here an article that will help you in case you encounter reconciliation issues: Fix issues when you're reconciling accounts.
