Can you please help me with how I can record this transaction?
The amount I need to book was $40, but there was an error somehow, so they withdrew $100 first and returned $60 a few days later.
In the bank statement, there were only $100 and $60 transaction ($100-$60=$40), so there’s nowhere in the bank statement that indicates $40,but i still need to book for $100-$60 to make it $40 anyways.
I also need to divide this $40 into different categories (utility, supply, etc).
How can I record this correctly?
Thank you,
The work flow is enter transactions, then download banking and match
enter the 100 using the expense accounts you need
then enter the 60 refund as a deposit and use the same expense account as the source of the deposit
then match to the banking download
