I had to previously delete duplicate transactions and now cannot successfully reconcile my account. Is there anything I can do to correct this issue?

I had to previously delete duplicate transactions and now cannot successfully reconcile my account. Is there anything I can do to correct this issue?

I appreciate your time and efforts in posting here in the Community forum, lgraver. Let me provide you with the necessary information to correct the figures in your reconciliation and to start over this process. 

 

We can check your bank statement to see if the deleted deposits are verified duplicates. If so, it shouldn't have affected the beginning balance. In this case, we ensure all the transactions in your statement match your records within the program. 

 

Also, to review the issues with your reconciliation, select the We can help you fix it link to open your discrepancy report. Examine the report thoroughly and use it as a guide to determine whether and what necessary adjustments should be made. For amounts that you've changed, you can edit it to adjust the total or change the account as needed. 

 

Afterward, we can navigate to your Bank Transactions page to reconcile it again:

 

  1. Go to the Transactions tab and choose Bank transactions. 
  2. Select the account you want to reconcile again and click on Go to bank register.
  3. Click Reconcile.
  4. Make sure to enter the Ending balance field and Ending date field. Then, select Start reconciling.
  5. Review the transactions. Then, put a checkmark if it matches the transaction in your bank statement. If not, don’t put a checkmark.
  6. Hit Finish now.

Regarding your concern with deleting a reconciliation to start over, as of now, we don't have an option for this. Instead, we can manually undo each transaction. However, if you have an accountant with a QuickBooks Accountant plan, we can add them to your account since they can undo this entire period to help you start afresh.
