I just downloaded banking transactions into the wrong account, how can I delete them?

They are currently unmatched, waiting to be added to the register. I'd like to delete the whole batch of transactions without adding them all to the register.

I am currently in classic mode in the banking feed center preferences.

Importing transactions into the right account ensures accurate recording of these entries, shilde. Let me add details to this further.

In QuickBooks Online, the program automatically downloads recent bank transactions connected to your company file. Thus, you can exclude the entries downloaded from the incorrect account and import your financial data to the correct banking account.

Also, excluding them won't allow transactions to appear again in your bank feeds. To do this, here's how to exclude downloaded entries from the incorrect account:

  1. In your QBO account, go to Transactions, then click Bank Transactions.
  2. Select the affected bank account.
  3. From the For Review tab, tick the transactions downloaded to the incorrect account.
  4. Then, click Exclude.

Once done, import your transactions to the correct account.

On the other hand, you can learn more insights in this guide if you're handling multiple subaccounts when downloading your entries: About bank or credit card subaccount setup.

Additionally, if you need help managing your chart of accounts, you can partner with QuickBooks Live Experts and feel more confident in managing your overall financial data.

Moreover,  you can start reconciling your accounts to ensure they always match your bank and credit card statements.

It is not quickbooks online, it is quickbooks desktop. Do you directions for the desktop version?

I'm glad to see you again, shilde! I appreciate your clarification. I’d be happy to help you with instructions on deleting bank transactions you downloaded to the wrong account in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). This will ensure your financial data remains accurate and up-to-date.

In QBDT, there are three Bank Feed modes available, and each one displays and handles transactions differently. In Classic Mode (Register Mode), you see your register on the top part of the screen, and your downloaded transactions are at the bottom. To delete your entries, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Banking menu.
  2. Select Bank Feeds and then Bank Feeds Center.
  3. Find and choose the statement from the Items Received From Financial Institution section and click Delete.
  4. Hit Yes to confirm. 80.PNG

On the other hand, you can also opt to switch between banking modes as often as you need to easily manage your downloaded entries.

After that, import your bank feed data to the correct account.

Additionally, I recommend reconciling your accounts regularly (every month). By doing this, you’ll ensure consistency with your monthly statements, which will help maintain accurate financial records.

With this information, you're all set to manage your entries in QBDT. If you have more questions or need further clarification on any part of the process, feel free to reach out by clicking the Reply button. I'm always here to assist you. Take care, shilde, and I wish you a wonderful day ahead!
