I recently created an account and during setup, some transactions were imported after connect my bank account. I need to purge prior to Dataswitcher but URL says I can’t.

Using the purge business URL from the QBO help desk link but when I visit URL, it’s saying it’s only for tiers higher than Simple StartZ how can I wipe my QBO data in reparation for Dataswitcher to move my Xero account over.

Right, Dverley, the purge data option in QuickBooks Online is only available for higher-tier accounts such as Essentials, Plus, or Advanced, and not for users on Simple Start.

The easiest way to solve this is to upgrade your QBO plan to one of the higher tiers, such as Essentials or Plus. You can use the purge feature to remove your data.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon in the upper right corner.
  2. Click Subscription and Billing.
  3. And click Upgrade your plan.
  4. Once the upgrade is complete, use the purge URL (https://qbo.intuit.com/app/purgecompany) to wipe your data. Follow the on-screen steps to confirm the purge.
  5. Downgrade the subscription back to Simple Start after wiping the data to save on costs.

However, if you'd prefer to stay on your current plan without upgrading, you can manually remove the transactions one by one. However, this process may take longer, especially if you have many transactions.

Here's how to manually delete the transactions:

  1. Go to the Banking tab and click on your connected bank account.
  2. Manually delete the imported transactions one by one.
  3. Revert or delete accounts, customers, vendors, or products/services added during the setup.
  4. Some lists cannot be deleted if they are tied to other data. In these cases, you'll need to remove the connected transactions first.
  5. Undo Reconciliations if applicable.
  6. If reconciliations were performed, undo them to clear the data fully.

If upgrading or manually deleting isn’t your choice, consider creating a new QuickBooks Online account. This approach ensures your new account is completely clean. Go back to the Gear icon and cancel your plan under Subscription and Billing, and create a new one.

Hello, Yrwand. Are you encountering the same issue mentioned in the thread above? If so, you can temporarily upgrade your QuickBooks Online (QBO) plan to a higher tier, such as Essentials or Plus, to use the purge feature and remove your data since this option is not available on the Simple Start plan.

For more guidance, you can refer to my colleague @JeveeAdvin’s explanation above. Also, keep in mind that deleting your data also depends on how long you've been using QuickBooks. You can find more details in this article: Delete your data and start over.

If you’re facing a different issue, we’d greatly appreciate it if you could provide specific details about the problem you’re encountering with your company file.
