I reconciled my bank account to my statement and entered the wrong ending date. How do I correct the end date?

Hi there, @gail23

Welcome to the Community. There are two things to consider before editing the ending date of your reconciliation. Let me share them with you and walk you through the steps.

If your reconciliation is not yet completed or closed, you can still edit the ending date by clicking the Edit info button on the Reconciliation page.

Here's how:

  1. In the Accounting menu, select Reconciliation.
  2. Select your bank or credit card account in the Account drop-down list.
  3. Click the Resume reconciling button.
  4. Select Edit info, then enter the correct ending balance based on your bank statement ending date.
  5. Hit the Save button to confirm the changes made.

Once done, you can now continue matching your transactions until you'll have the difference of $0.00.

However, if you've already completed and closed your reconciliation, you can no longer go back to change the ending date. You can either leave the ending date as it is and make sure to enter the correct ending date on your next reconciliation or undo your whole reconciliation, then start over.

Here's the detailed steps and key information in case you'll need to proceed with un-reconciling your account: How to Un-reconcile a Transaction or Undo a Reconciliation?

If you have bunch of transactions to un-reconcile, it's best to reach out to an accountant that uses QBOA software to help you speed up the whole un-conciliation procedure

For future reference, read through this article: Learn the reconcile workflow in QuickBooks. It includes different scenarios and links with a step-by-step guide on how to resolve them.
