Thank you for visiting the Community today, thedonutmama.

Maintaining organized records of banking transactions is vital for accurate financial reports and a seamless reconciliation process. Let me share some solutions to help maintain your books in order.

Yes, you can start over with a fresh bank file to bring your banking data into QuickBooks Online (QBO). However, the online program only supports the 3 and 4-column format, so you'll have to manually categorize the downloaded transactions.

Based on the scenario, you'll have to undo the added entries and exclude them to remove the duplicates. Simply follow these steps:

  1. In your QuickBooks Online (QBO), navigate to the Transactions menu on the left panel and select Bank transactions
  2. Click the Blue tile icon and choose your account from the drop-down list.
  3. Press the All dates drop-down and choose the correct date range.
  4. Tap the Apply button for the changes to take effect.
  5. Go to the Categorized tab and tick the boxes for the entries you're working on.
  6. Select Continue

This will move the entries back to the For review tab. After that, make sure to exclude the downloaded data. Here's how:

  1. In the For review tab, tick the boxes for entries you wish to remove.
  2. Tap the Exclude button.

This action will move the transactions to the Excluded tab. To gain more insights about the process, take a look at this guide: Exclude a bank transaction you downloaded into QuickBooks Online.

After performing these steps, let's proceed and manually upload the transactions and categorize them to the correct account. Alternatively, you may want to explore the use of a third-party application that allows you to delete transactions in bulk.

The QuickBooks Apps Center offers a wide range of programs compatible with the online platform. Type a keyword in the Search bar to streamline the process. Review each suggested app for a more comprehensive comparison.
