Import check number and payee

I'm here to help import your check number and payee in QuickBooks Online (QBO), fslivestockmarke.

You need to use the CSV file to import transactions in QBO. Please refer to this link for instructions: Format CSV files in Excel to get bank transactions into QuickBooks.

Once the file is ready, you can start importing them to QuickBooks. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu, then select Upload from file.
    upload bank transactions.PNG
  2. Click Browse and choose the .CSV file.
    upload bank transactions1.PNG
  3. Select Open, then select Next.
  4. Choose the account from the QuickBooks Account drop-down, then select Next.
    upload bank transactions2.PNG
  5. Select a Date and a date format.
  6. Select the Description and Amount statement fields.
    upload bank transactions3.PNG
  7. When you are ready, click Next.
  8. All transactions in your .CSV file will show. If you'd like to exclude transactions, clear the checkbox next to date, then click Next.
  9. Select Yes to import now, then select Let's go!

Now that your transactions are in QuickBooks, it's time to match and categorize them. The transactions go into your accounts after you review them.

Stay in touch with me if there's anything else I can help you with importing checks to QuickBooks. I'm always right here to help you.

This process does not import the check number. It will only import the date, amount and description fields. Is there a way to also get the check number uploaded?

Import check number and payee

Let me share with you a few details about importing, jaramillo.

For now, you're unable to import check numbers in QuickBooks Online (QBO). You'll want to use a third-party application or manually enter the check number in your QBO account.

However, if you decide to use another application that you can integrate with QuickBooks, you'll want to search them on the hyperlink I've provided above and check out its reviews and ratings. For more questions about importing data, go through this article: Common Questions About Importing Data To QuickBooks Online

After you have entered and written checks, you'll want to match the downloaded entry to what you've entered in QBO. To give you more information about the process, check this article: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Please touch base with us if you need anything else with importing data. The Community is always here to help you 24/7.

@jaramillo

If you are using the importer tool as I mentioned earlier, you can put your check number in the Ref number field.

I did this but my description has employee numbers next to the employee name in the description.  QB removes them. I have tried several formats and it only imports the name.

Is there a fee to use the 3rd party importer?

Hey there, @Kelly26

Thanks for chiming in on this thread.

Depending on which third party importer you use will determine if there is a fee to use it. I recommend looking on the third party's website or plans and pricing.

I hope this answers your question. I'm only a reply away if you need me again. Bye for now!

Yes. You can check this one. If you are using QB Desktop, you can purchase a $199 one time license. You can get $100 cashback to purchase thru a partner.
