Buy nowHello - our Checking and Savings Accounts with Digital Federal Credit Union connected to QB were both working correctly through most of this year. The Checking Acct connected to QB is still working fine; it updates correctly and I'm able to reconcile successfully.
The Savings Acct, however, threw an error starting in August and stopped being able to update transactions. I attempted to 'fix' the error through the QB UI, but nothing happened. When I contacted QB Support, they were not able to make a successful connection to my Savings Acct and suggested that I import the transactions manually.
I exported the CSV file from my bank and tried importing it. While the import was successful, it imported ALL of the transactions as positive - i.e. deposits - when there were both deposits and withdrawals on the file. Several attempts at changing the format of the file have not been successful - it sees all of the transactions as positive. This makes it impossible for me to reconcile the account.
1) How can I import these transactions accurately so that I can reconcile? Or, 2) Is there a fix coming from QB Support that can re-connect with my DCU Savings Acct successfully?

Hi there, BlackDog.
May I know the exact error message you received when the savings account stopped syncing in August? This will help me understand the issue and provide the best solution.
If you haven’t tried yet, disconnect and reconnect your bank account. This refreshes the connection and often resolves common syncing issues between QuickBooks Online (QBO) and your bank. Here’s how:
1. Go to Accounting and select Bank transactions.
2. Locate the bank account you want to disconnect.
3. Click the pencil icon, then choose Edit account info.
4. Select the check box Disconnect this account on save, click Yes, then Save.
5. Once disconnected, reconnect the account.
Make sure to double-check your banking credentials during the process, as incorrect logins can cause syncing issues.
Regarding the CSV file import issue, this may occur if QuickBooks Online (QBO) doesn’t correctly identify withdrawals and deposits. To resolve this, I recommend using a 4-column format for your file to accurately capture the money coming in and out. Below is the sample mapping:

Hello Jane_M -
Thank you for getting back to me. The exact error that I received was "Error 185 - More security info required by your bank." When I attempted to fix this, it prompted me to log in again and I provided the security information. However, nothing further updated - i.e. the transactions on the account did not post anything new beyond August 20th.
I also tried to Disconnect and Reconnect the account. I was able to disconnect without issue; when I tried reconnecting, the account in question was not available for me to choose. There was a list of SIX savings accounts associated with my bank profile and the specific account that I need to reconnect was not listed there.
I will try to manually change the CSV file to adjust for Money Received vs Money Spent, and try to make the update in that fashion.
It is interesting, and frustrating, that this functionality WAS working fine, and then suddenly stopped altogether. Does this happen often with QuickBooks and different banking institutions?
