It is a ridiculous, distrustful waste of time that I can't edit an erroneous statement date for a reconciliation I just "completed". It's a typo for crying out loud.

It is a ridiculous, distrustful waste of time that I can't edit an erroneous statement date for a reconciliation I just "completed". It's a typo for crying out loud.

Let me help you with your reconciliation, pbayne.

Though, we're unable to change the statement date, we can manually undo your reconciliation. That way, all reconciled transactions will be marked as unreconcile. Then, we can reconcile it again with the correct statement date.

If there are lot of transactions, you can add your accountant into your account. All accountant users have a tool to undo an entire reconciliation.

You can also manually undo it without a need of your accountant. Let's follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Accounting tab and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Locate the affected account and select View register.
  3. Select the reconciled transactions. Change the status from R to blank.
  4. Click Save.

Here's an article for your guide: Undo and remove transactions from reconciliations in QuickBooks Online. Once done, we can now reconcile the account again.

Also, you'll want to read this reference about adjusting a reconciliation.

Keep in mind that I'll always be here for you. Post again if you need further assistance.

Thank you for the patient & detailed response.  I followed those steps and was able to manually un-reconcile all 100 transactions.

It takes 3-4 clicks each and feels error-prone.  The reason I do as much of this myself is to save $$ and better understand the business.  Making a one-number typo, while sitting next to my kid on the couch to hang out with them while eyeballing credit card transactions, should not require calling my accountant to fix, who will need to charge for their time.

If this is my QBO account for my business, I should be able to edit something I have done in my books.  "Call your accountant" (who has an hourly rate over $200) to fix a typo is not an OK, pro-small-business solution for the software.  I aim that comment at the product/design team, not you.  Thanks again for a prompt and patient reply.
