It's been a week and I still can't connect to Wells Fargo. Chatted with support who told me "systems engineers were aware" and working on it. Not a peep since! Anyone?

Have you tried opening your QBO account on incognito/private browser?

Yes, in 3 different browsers, Safari, Chrome, and Firefox. I also tried it from my cellphone with wifi turned off, just in case it had something to do with my IP address.

Hello, ehassleraz. Let's work together and get this resolved.

We can try accessing our account using a private browser to check if it'll work. You can use these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: CTRL  + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: CTRL  + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

If this fixes the issue, we can go back to your regular browser and clear the cache to prevent unexpected behavior in the product. As an alternative, you can also use other supported browsers.

However, if the issue persists, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks support. They can guide and provide options on how to handle the specific situation you have.

In the meantime, we can manually upload your bank transactions to your QuickBooks account. You can go to your bank's website and follow the instructions on how to download them. I've listed our supported file formats below:

  • Comma-Separated Values (CSV)
  • QuickBooks Online (QBO)
  • Quicken (QFX)

You follow these steps in uploading the file:

  1. Select Banking from the sidebar menu, then click the Banking tab.
  2. Hit the Upload transactions button.
  3. Click Browse, then choose the file you downloaded from your bank.
  4. Select the account you want to upload the transactions into from the QuickBooks account ▼ drop-down menu, then select Next
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions, then click Next.
  6. When you’re ready, hit Let's go.

Once done, you can go back to the Banking menu to match and categorize your bank transactions.

I'll be right here to keep helping if you have any other concerns or questions about banking.

Hello,

Yes, I already tried connecting to Wells Fargo using private windows in Safari, Chrome, and Firefox.

I understand how to manually upload transactions, but am hesitant. If I manually upload transactions, then later connect to Wells Fargo successfully, will things sync up, or am I asking for more trouble?

As I said, I already contacted support, but he was unable to help. Here's his exact response from a later email:

-------

This is Chris from QuickBooks Online Care Team this email is related to your recent interaction with us about "Updating" with case number [removed].There's a reported INVESTIGATION/OUTAGE about ''Connecting Bank". Our system engineers are already aware of this outage/issue, and we're working on fixing the said issue as soon as possible. I already added your account on the priority list as one of the affected customer to make sure your account will be fixed asap. We'll be sending you an email update once the issue is fixed. I was advised to close the case I have created based on my level, a tier 1 technical support, since this will create a duplicate entry on their bucket which might lead to the delayed fix due to confusion for they create their own ticketing too.

-------

I haven't heard anything since this message last week...

I'm here to clear things up for you, ehassleraz.

Currently, we're still investigating the connection issue between QuickBooks and Wells Fargo. Since you've already contacted our phone supports, your contact details are already added to our notification list. Rest assured, we'll send an email update once we get this rectified.

If you really need to get your bank transactions right now, you can manually upload them to your QuickBooks account. However, the program will still automatically download the same transaction once the issue is resolved. In this case, you'll have to exclude the duplicate transactions to get rid of them.

Additionally, here are some articles that you can read to help manage your online banking transactions:

We appreciate your patience and understanding on this matter. If you have any other concerns or follow-up questions, just leave them in the comment section and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Jeez, I don't want to upload transactions if I'll just have to spend time removing duplicates later. Who has time for that?!

I hope I can still accept payments and pay bills. It appears I was able to connect to Wells Fargo under Accounts & Settings > Payments. I've sent out a couple invoices, so we'll see if that works or not.

Not sure about paying bills. But that's another issue...

I'm new to QuickBooks. I was using a different online accounting app and switched to QB on the advice of a colleague. So far am regretting it... I REALLY hope you can get this issue solved quickly.

Were you able to resolve this? Extremely frustrating. Trying to avoid changing banks but being unable to connect defeats the whole purpose of QB.

You can use MT Online or one of the converter tools (e.g csv2qbo) as a workaround.

Thanks for visiting the QuickBooks Community for this banking concern, NoradBB.

I can see how this issue has impacted your workflow. I'm here to ensure you'll be able to connect your Wells Fargo in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

I’d recommend contacting the Wells Fargo customer service team and verifying if there are issues or changes made on their end. It could be one of the reasons why you’re unable to connect your account to QBO.

In case you've already performed the steps in the article, I suggest reaching out again to our Customer Care team to check if there's an ongoing investigation about the connection issues between QBO and Wells Fargo.

Here's how to reach them:

  1. Click the Help menu in the upper-right-hand corner.
  2. Type in "Talk to a human", then press Enter.
  3. Look for I still need a human and click on it.
  4. Click Get help from a human or Contact Support Team.
  5. Select between Send a messageSchedule an appointment, or Get a callback.

In the meantime, the recommended workaround for this is to manually import your bank transactions to QBO. Once transactions are in, you'll now have to categorize and match them in QBO to ensure they are allocated to the correct account.

To learn more about mapping and uploading bank entries, see the following article: How to import bank transactions using Excel CSV files?

Let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with on managing your bank feeds in QBO. It’s always my pleasure to help you. Have a wonderful day and take care!
