Linking credit and bank cards retroactively.

If I link bank cards now, do the records synchronize retroactively?

Linking credit and bank cards retroactively.

Let me give some details when linking credit and bank accounts in QuickBooks, mbmooredboyd.

QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) downloads the 30 to 90 days of transactions when you first connect your bank and credit card accounts. If you want to add transactions that are older than the ones originally downloaded, you'll have to export the transactions from your bank and then import them into QuickBooks. I'll show you how:

To export:

  1. Sign in to your bank’s website.
  2. Follow your bank’s steps to download your transactions as a CSV file. This is usually a button or link on your account page.
  3. Sign in to your bank’s website.
  4. Follow your bank’s steps to download your transactions as a CSV file. This is usually a button or link on your account page.

To import:

  1. Open QuickBooks Self-Employed in a web browser.
  2. Select Settings ⚙.
  3. Select Imports.
  4. Select Import older transactions for the account you want to add transactions to.
  5. Select Browse and find the file you downloaded from your bank. It's usually in your Downloads folder.
  6. Select the file and select Open to start the import.
  7. Review the column headers and data. Make sure the Date, Description, and Amount columns on the CSV match the columns and order in QuickBooks. The other column headers can be in any order.
  8. Select Continue to complete the import.

To give you more information and a detailed process when adding older transactions, you can check out this article: Add Older Transactions To QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Also, linking bank accounts is one of the most time-saving features when doing banking in QuickBooks. Once you connect your accounts to your QBSE account, your recent transactions download automatically. Thus, this lets you skip manual data entry.

Moreover, you'll want to know everything that you can do, or how QuickBooks tracks everything throughout the year, read this article for additional insights: QuickBooks Self-Employed Overview.
