I don't use online banking, I do manually download transactions and import. But Intuit has programed QuickBooks 2019 to purposely block that feature to extort money out of people. How do I remove the restrictions and allow import (not using online services), no way am I buying an online version of the program.
You won't be able to import *.qbo files any longer to any outdated QBD version. That file type is part of the bank feeds feature. Another option, you can import the bank statements, CC charges, and CC credits from *.csv or *.xls by using a 3rd party importer tool.

Good to see you here, dfati.
Let me share some information about importing transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.
I agree with Fiat Lux - ASIA, that the outdated version of QuickBooks Desktop will no longer support the importing of .qbo files. Make sure you're using a supported version of QuickBooks Desktop to avoid data issues due to some feature or version differences.
Check this link on how to upgrade your company file: Upgrade your company files after you switch to a new version of QuickBooks Desktop.
I’ve also collected these resources for additional details on importing your bank transactions and how to fix them in case you run into some errors:

I guess Desktop is still available - just subscription. I ordered it, but $349 when Office Depot, Dell and many others have it for $249. Can I can a $100 refund or just refund the entire then then I can purchase from another reseller?
You must request a refund to cancel your license for the full amount.

Keep in mind, they have announced their plan to raise the renewal price for QBD 2022. You can still purchase the one time license for QBD 2021 from some resellers if required.
Here's a little hack that I came across by accident, which worked well for me on QB2019 for Mac in February, 2023. If you uninstall / reinstall QB Desktop, the very first time you open the application the ability to import transactions using a bank-issued .qbo file. In my case, I used a Chase checking account downloaded transaction .qbo. If you exit and re-open the application (so, the second time and subsequent times) you will NOT be able to import .qbo files any longer. So... uninstall, re-install...
I have multiple LLCs and this decision of theirs to actively remove features from a product I paid for and had installed locally was the final straw for me. I also had 2 QuickBooks Online subscriptions and was getting frustrated with their annual 20-30% price increases every year. Then they go an pro-actively remove a features from the desktop version I was still using for some other LLCs. It's not their support staff's fault, it's the product manager's and upper management of Intuit.
Their general business practices at this company have driven me to ALWAYS go elsewhere at this point. The first step was years ago when I realized that I can hire a CPA to do my personal taxes for the same cost they were charging me (I suggest everyone go contact a CPA and you'll be surprised too.
If you don't need to run any add-ons (e.g QB Payroll), you can use the trial version of QB Desktop for good.
You did not mention what software package you switched to ... that insight would be helpful.
Thanks.
Which QB Desktop year version do you run?
Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2021 (Windows)
You have QB Desktop 2021 with a non subscription license, correct? Why do you have to switch to another program?
Because QB is preventing me from importing transactions in QBO files. Not right for force me to upgrade when I really don't need to and the capabilities were there when I purchased the perpetual license of 2021 QBDT. This is EXTREMELY annoying to have happen when trying to close out the year.
You can use an importer tool as a workaround. It's a $199 one time license and you can get $100 cashback to purchase it via a partner.

If you prefer to use the bank feed feature, you can use the trial version of QB Desktop 2022 as a workaround. You should contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA for details.
